Looks like he's thought about it and rejected us today as far as I can see. Can't see any club agreeing to a confidentiality clause beyond the point of dropping the offer as a penalty. Someone said on here today we wouldn't put a bid in if the club weren't sure of getting him which I thought was a bit naive. Looks like a busted deal now but I think now does us neither harm or good as it's the usual City story now!

What are you talking about, confidentiality clause. What confidentiality clause?
Don't be Silly Pam. He can't tell you; it's confidential!
*too warm for coat*

So it's a secret then?

I am still not fully understanding this so called stumbling block. Shirley the relevant parties have been aware of this from the beginning. Why would they have waited until the 11th hour to discuss the matter. Did Barca think Eto wouldn't stake a claim to this loyalty payment? Did Eto assume they would pay it. Or does no one give a flying fuck any more.

Well documented the NDC we are imposing and Barca have definately disobeyed it hoping to force Eto'o out

Interesting. Do we have a source for this? What is the punishment for disobeyment?

Well Barca offered him a new contract an he refused as it wasn't big enough. Also he is moving on to become the best paid or 2nd best player in the world. Maybe Barca thought there was leverage because of the two but Eto'o obviously isnt budging

It's because it is one of the very last things to sort out. It is only worth bothering with if a contract and transfer fee have been agreed.

No official source just seen it said on more than one occasion - would make sense following the kaka debacle. Would also explain why no official word regarding the matter or indeed tevez matter. We have had the usual "we are in the market for quality players blah blah

'staking a claim' is different from getting it. barca want him to leave of his own accord as much as possible. eto'o wants barca to force him out as much as possible. he'll end up with a percentage of it (if he decides the wages, bonuses, and signing on fee from city, added to whatever he can get out of barca, is enough to make it really worth his while to join). that percentage would be negotiated on the strength of each sides case that the move was driven by the other side. it's a game of poker. they've shown a couple of cards each, but you don't reveal your hand until the showdown.

It wouldn't surprise me if City pay it and keep it hush hush!!

Well if it as much as £12m plus he will be on £100k + at barca of course he will think it is worth staying put until the end of his contract. Plus it isn't as if they wouldnt play AND he is in africa for 6 weeks even if they did.

His agent says he will most likely stay

No he doesn't. That's the way the press is reporting it. His agent says unless Barcelona change their attitude about the loyalty payment, then he will stay there. He says nothing at all about the likelihood of Barcelona changing their minds.

so either way its unlikely he will come?

Why can't people grasp this? Today's developments are not brilliant but they are clearly not the end of the line.

I'm not. Who should I send the cheque to?

Can anybody tell me why Barca can't just buy Villa and fuck Eto off that way. The won the CL this year which must have netted them 30mill. they also won La Liga, another £30-20mill. They also get crowds of 60-70 thousand. So why the need for the Eto sale to buy Villa? Doesn't make sense.
