They're Anglo-Saxon and Norman down there. Up here we're more Scandinavian and Celtic. Northern England is completely different to Southern England.

It's why we have an unofficial flag for up here that is in the same style of the Norse cross:

We aren't the same race as them Southerners. We aren't Scottish, we aren't Welsh, we're Northern English or Hen Ogledd

Old North in Welsh!

Do not under any circumstances try to buy buttons from a man or woman appearing to display them for sale on their clothing, this is in fact an old custom of sewing buttons on their clothes to gain them a little more standing space on public transport as people allow a safe distance in order to avoid being snagged on the pearly protuburances.

Does anyone know if there's a boozer where London based Blues get together? Bad enough that i'm not at COMS tomorrow 'cos i have to work in London; be worse if i don't find a friendly pub to watch the match. Won't have much time after finishing work and don't know London, so any pub info appreciated.

there are a couple of good chippys in maidstone kent where i work, proper quality fish and chips (not your refried soggy chips, but fresh and crisp, mmm), good helpings and well tasty gravy. The only problem is i think it's own by a manc man u fan.

um, not very handy for wembley though

don't be disgusting?wtf? cockney chippies & other eating establishments do a nice line in saveloys (originally sausages made from animals' brains), rock salmon, sometimes just called rock (dogfish) jellied eels & whelks. their pie & mash often comes covered in a liquid known as 'liquor' which contains no alcohol but looks like jizz.

dirty bastards.

I'd be grateful if anyone can suggest a decent chippy in London, because I've never found one.
Couple of good ones I know.

Cheap and cheerful - The Laughing Halibut in Strutton Ground, Westminster. Seen Peter Mandelson in there picking up some chips on the way home.

More upmarket - The Seafresh on Wilton Road just down from Victoria.

Both eat-in or take-away
i have been inboth of those and they're good but watch out for the £15 fish and chips though!

You've certainly been in the Seafresh then! I paid £15 for Fish, Chips, Peas and a cup of tea in there. Very nice mind but not worth that.
