I think the country is assuming that a high turnout means more remain votes I wouldnt count on it and still think we may be in for a surprise

No it's an assumption based on capital flows and forex trades and all the sources of information being aggregated.

Not with total certainty but, given the amounts at stake, they will be using incredibly sophisticated modelling techniques and computing power. Anything to minimise the risk of what the markets hate the most - i.e. surprises.

I agree mate, very weird thing to say....I would have expected him, to want to be seen as being full of confidence in his own campaign and be feeling positive...just seemed a strange!

He might have down beat poll station workers phoning him from every booth in the country. He will know roughly if turnout is high in "in" areas or "out" areas. They will have panels of undecided voters they worked with who have decided. He will have a lot of information.

The issue is to call so early you would have to be very sure which implies a big margin which doesn't seem likely to me from what I have seen and read in recent weeks.

I would suspect that hedge funds and institutional investors with billions to make it lose would be wanting to be fairly confident .

But there are companies out there trawling the entire net who will be trawling all sites such as this for in or out and Brexit commwnts and aggregating information and all sorts of different sources as well
