To be fair I think I've crossed paths with Metal Biker before..so am familiar with his stance..it's not pretty..this referendum has made very strange bedfellows
That's the interesting thing, I (and I know you differ) utterly despair that working people are voting for nationalism and to ensure the break up of the EU and destruction of the NHS. I am voting alongside lying Tories who I would disagree with. On the Brexit side socialist worker is in bed with the BNP vote wise.

I think in some ways it's a vote between the centre and the extremes but the problem is if brexit wins then there will be an utterly split camp and Britain will be broken three ways, if remain wins we will be broken two ways. The damage has been done Britain has fucked itself for the political expediency of the Tories and a great many of you to done degree or other will suffer consequences.

Are there any polls suggesting which way the outcome will go?
Nothing concrete; the Mirror, the Independent, the Guardian, the Telegraph and the pollstation poll have leave winning on percentages ranging from 55% to 81%. I think a yougov poll also had leave as being ahead, but these polls change constantly. The most accurate anyone can give is it's 50/50 with many still undecided.

A

ll those words for so long and now you show your true colours?
Maybe you should step back from this thread. You have a vote but what are you achieving constantly banging your drum ? The people will vote the way they want, so why not relax and stop winding yourself up about things you have no control over ?
Have a glass of wine and chill out. It's not worth falling out with people really

A couple of things.....

1. A major problem for education, especially in the early formative years, in high immigration areas is the fact you have children who don't have English as their first language and you do have classes that have several different languages spoken. How can you expect quality education to be delivered in these circumstances. Call me a Xenophobe if you like but I did not and I would not allow my child's education to be affected in this way.

2. We have skilled jobs that need doing, I assume (I don't know) that the posts that are filled by non-EU immigrants are the posts that we need filled, I do exclude the refugees in that assumption. I wouldn't even know for certain if said refugees are included in that number. The majority of EU migrants that are coming across here are probably unskilled and taking the appropriate jobs. I genuinely know they try to work when they can, but don't run away with the notion that the EU migrants are " paying their way" by paying their taxes. I would guess that the majority of unskilled EU migrants barely earn enough to pay any tax. It's the unskilled EU migrants that have the right to come here that we need to deal with, not the highly skilled, high earning non EU migrants.

Hi mate....sorry to comment on this...trying to keep out of the arguments and just enjoying sitting back and enjoying reading the debate but my wife has been in education for over 25years and is a current Headteacher so feel I know alittle bit more than most in this area.....Only this week one of the largest teacher unions (NASUWT) have sent info to all schools pushing members to vote to "stay" in the EU to help protect the working rights of teachers, so this isnt as clear cut as you think......There is lots of different factors that impact the education in our schools...The biggest issue by far at the moment is not immigration.....The number one issue is recruitment...As most teachers would tell you its the bureaucracy and red tape from the Government that is stopping teachers doing what they do best, which is to teach our children....EU have no impact what so ever on this issue and no say on our education and dont tell our Government how much they can give to our schools...There is a big issue in the media about cuts to NHS but you'd be shocked at the cuts the Government are putting on school budgets across the country.........You are right tho and agree that depending on the area, there can be a higher EAL % (English as an additional language) but depending on the % in those areas, schools can access additional funding to give those classes the extra support they need...This isnt clear cut issue and many factors impact the education of our children but the biggest by a long way is not immigration.....

Christ I can't believe that Newsnight tonight was not hammering the pro EU propaganda. They have been at it for weeks showing such blatant bias towards remain that I've come to expect it and just wonder how deep the bias will be from night to night. Evan Davis probably following Ian Katz's the director's instructions has been the worst presentor for this. Tonight, for the first night ever, there was a fair presentation of the Brexit argument. What has happened? Somebody at the BBC has been got at? Even the news seems to be a bit more balanced recently. It may just be a blip and may not last of course. Anybody else felt a change?

I think you missed the point of his post.

You really have no idea and have clearly not lived in the UK for a long time.

The point was immigration affecting education?.....my point was that this is way down on the list of problems and if handled correctly in those high % EAL areas, it wouldnt be as big of an issue!....and that Teacher Unions are supporting the "stay" camp....if I misunderstood....apologies BigJoe!!;)

One sentence stood out for me.

" Even in the event that only a small majority of British voters reject a withdrawal, "we would have to see it as a wakeup call and a warning not to continue with business as usual," Schäuble said.

In other words there would be a hiatus to the grand plan. It would have to be slowed down, disguised maybe, but it would still trundle on. It has to. It's in the Treaties. He's hamstrung. You can't f*ck with the Treaties.

I was being sarcastic as he/she realised and I think they've been one of the better "wrong" posters on the thread.

Genuine question..but do you live in Manchester?

Because I'm at a loss as to how your partner can say that immigration isn't a problem in education here..I also have experience in the field..I work for an inspectorate..my girlfriend is a primary school teacher..it's a huge issue..schools are fit to burst..children are not just failing to get their first choice schools..they are failing to get any! Huge classes of 30+ children..a vast swathe of which are EAL children

It's literally reaching critical mass and although you are right..European Migrants are not solely to blame..it is certainly a huge factor

On the EU's waiting list:

Albania
Croatia
Kosovo
Macedonia
Montenegro
Serbia
Turkey.

But we can trust Dave and friends to ensure there will be no impact on immigration.

they will restrict it to a mere tens of thousands only mate ;-)

I think the good that has come about in this referendum is that people are at least talking about the issues

Although immigration for me.,whilst important to address..is not my motivation to leave the EU..I find it refreshing that it can be talked about in the most part..without being branded a racist..bigot or xenophobe..of which I am none of those things..this open door policy is ridiculous and cannot be sustained..whether we remain or leave..at some point we are going to have to get over this thinking about welcoming everyone with open arms..whilst a lovely sentiment..it's genuinely not sustainable..and in the long run..extremely damaging to all aspects of our standard of living

You won't hear me harp on about this too often as it's low down on my list of things to be pissed off at the EU for

But it definitely needs addressing in the near future..we just don't have the resources to cope
