Borderline decision there. Just seen the replay and he was offside earlier in the move (active or not? Fuck knows.) And what is the rule if the ball comes to you via a defender? I thought it was that the ball had to have been played intentionally for the striker to be onside, as opposed to a deflection for instance. That being the case, was he offside when he received the ball prior to scoring?

Confused here.

Same here mate, all this 1st phase 2nd phase bollocks, he was coming back from an offside position and gains an advantage to score. That, to me, is offside

Ireland deserved to be punished for a pass as bad as that.

Is it worrying that I'm happy listening to Carragher just to get a little respite from Chiles?

Anyone else think those ITV Clay models of historical players look totally shite?

Irish interpretation of offside, being beyond the last defender when the ball is played by anyone, even if it's a defender.
in my view Jalavic was still active from the first shot - unlucky Ireland

Nearly 3 - the Irish need HT

Having seen it in slow motion, I agree, he looked offside when the initial shot came in and never got back onside, should've been flagged.
