Given that was his main tactic in the World Cup, it's not a huge surprise to see him loading up on anyone who can take a corner. Alexander Arnold might not be the best defensively, but he's got great set piece delivery.

True. He’s a system player though who can’t defend. Shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting 11 imo. I’d start with Trippier on the right and Kyle in the back 3 if it has to be 5 at the back

Southgate is clueless, just by looking at his squad you can tell he is gonna go all defensive.

Is it because he feels the Chelsea/Man City midfielders need rest, that is the only thing I can think.
