It looks like they will have to play 3 at the back (so Walker and/or James won't be counting as a right back!), not a lot of creativity in the middle, and loads of forwards.

Wingbacks it is then, until they meet a decent side who stop them getting forward (like Belgium and Croatia in the 2nd half did in the World Cup). Still win the group and get the 2nd team from France/Germany/Portugal; come second in the group (to Croatia, maybe) they get probably Poland/Sweden.

Pretty much can't play a possession game, so they'll have to attack and try to set a record for number of crosses tried.

After the shitstorm following Trent Darby's exclusion from the last squad, it was inevitable he’d be picked.

So we're taking 4 centre backs for 2 positions(possibly 3)with one being injured, 5 midfielders for 3 positions with one being injured and hasn't played in that position for an entire year, one a 17 year old kid and one that he's tended to play further forward, and then 4 right backs.

I see nothing but balance there...

I've not been a southgate hater although I've doubted his ability but fuck me if a squad was to ever scream "I don't know what I'm doing" it's this.

One of the most talented pool of players to pick from in a lifetime and that's what he goes with. It's actually laughable. I'd sooner have fucking Ole taking charge if he thinks that's a squad capable of winning.

If I was an England player that was drained or perhaps could do with an op, I'd be pulling out and skipping this train wreck. We're going out early and it's going to be brutal.

Is it because he feels the Chelsea/Man City midfielders need rest, that is the only thing I can think.

I'm guessing it's because mount and Henderson will be unavailable meaning we've got just 3 options in the middle and he doesn't want to get to the first game of the tournament with them all fucked.

he would rather wait until the 3rd game before reaching that stage.
