euro attendance

I'll be going and tbh if I was one of 20k other supporters, I couldn't care less!

As people have said some people genuinely can't afford to go to a lot of matches so prioritise, i'm lucky in that I don't have kids yet so just sacrifice other things such as last night I went to town but didn't drink and taxi'd mates home, saved myself £50, still had a good crack with the lads but justified my Villa and Dortmund tickets...

I know that for some, attendances don't matter but...

I just can't get my head round the apathy surrounding Champs League and domestic cup games.

Can't the many that don't get to go to league games buy these cup tickets?

Surely we should be able to shift 40k+ tickets for all cup games!
the FA cup gets a reasonable turn out and no doubt the CL will be close to if not a sell out, but the likes of the LC and the EL are second fiddle and not many bother to turn out for them

The apathy towards the Europa can easily be resolved by increasing the monetary rewards for playing in it. If CL offers you 40mil for winning, why can't they offer 15-20mil, for EL, instead of the measly 3-4mil clubs get for winning the trophy.
More money means increased competition among clubs to get into EL (if they can't get into the Champions League), resulting in increased prestige for the event and more revenue for those (often struggling) clubs in it, inevitably leading to more supporters in attendance (or TV), which corresponds to increased advertising revenues - a win-win for all..
