Anyone ever been to one of these? Been looking at going away next year and the prices are we are being given are ridiculous for a a family with 2 kids. Fancy going south of France and giving camping a go. Anyone used any in france, and would recommend any site? Any good/bad tales. Any info greatly appreciated

Try Matthews Holidays mate. Lots of sites in France and if you book early you'll get a really good price. They rent static Caravans out but all the sites have stuff for the kids to do.

if you fly / drive , try either flying to Nice and driving about an hour to area around Frejus, some really good campsites there or fly to Bergerac or Limoges and your're within easy reach of the Dordogone which also has some brilliant sites especially near Sarlat. Compare Keycamp prices with others like Canvas ,
it's perfect holiday for families

We've been to the Vendee, near La Rochelle a couple of times, not with Eurocamp but they do use the same sites.

We used Charles Alexander Holidays, under new management now but the owners used toi be big Blues - anyone who used to do away games in the 90's from the Chaddy Tavern will know Webby.

Anyway, I'd rec Charles Alexander. nice sites, good pools, excellent beaches.

I went as a kid to one of these in the South of France so not too sure how helpful my input would be. I have no idea how much the holiday was but I went to 2 different Eurocamps over 2 weeks, one in the Vendee and one in the Loir Valley.

From a kid’s perspective looking back I thought it was great. We were only at the campsite for the late afternoon and evening, we were out most of the day visiting Chateaux and other attractions. The facilities were good, plenty of things to do on site and most of the sites have a lido. I brought my bmx which was great as the camp we were at had some great tracks in the woods.

It was on this holiday that I experienced the pain of being hit in the nuts full on for the first time. The reps organised a footy game and they played with a rock hard adidas tango ball and I was in goal (you can see where this is heading). Was one on one against the kid this kid booted it right in to my nads. I will never forget that part of the holiday. But overall was good.

I can’t for the life of me remember what cooking arrangements were, I think we ate out most of the time and there were take-aways on site.

I've been going to France for holidays since 1992, firstly in caravans, and lately in gites (kids grown out of coming with us).

Most sites have swimming pool complexes, play areas, bars, takeaways, etc, and are of a far higher standard than the UK.

Been with the following companies;
Haven Europe (now Siblu)
Eurosites (think now part of Eurocamp)
Matthews Holidays
Letsgo2France

The last company was the most reasonable with regard to both price and quality, as the owners live in the Vendee and regularly visit their clients to see if any problems.

Not been down to the south of France, but have been to all regions from Picardy down to Biarritz on the west side, and the Limousin/Dordogne regions. All are different, but the pace and quality of life is sooooo much better than the UK.

Try it, you'll enjoy it wherever you go.

If you're taking your own car and you want to try Northern France, we visited this place four times when the kids were younger and it was brilliant

It's about 40 minutes from Cherbourg and the site has direct access onto a four mile beach

Have used both eurocamp and keycamps can't complain about either although I did find they keycamp caravan a bit shabby compared to the euro camp. Have to say every campsite I've been to using these companies is miles better than i've been to in this country. I think its when you add the cost of the ferry that makes it expensive. So if you your willing to drive once you get to france going Dover to callais may lower the cost.

Also the kids clubs both these companies run are brilliant, my son whose 6 was a bit shy about going but we couldnt get him away after his first visit.

we stayed here last year, brilliant place

Done quite a few of these type of holidays & would again. Brilliant for kids - and if they're happy c'est tres bien! (sorry).
As the last poster said, it's the ferry that pushes the price up.
After going many times we'd use Canvas (tents with all the gear provided). These are cheaper than Eurocamp & the others.
Personally, we wouldn't use Matthews again. Abit shoddy & no kids clubs.
