His problems are all in his head.

I bet he’s incredible in training but when he gets a chance for City he tries to hard and overthinks. He could have scored 10 goals last season just like the one he got for England today But he’d invariably try passing it back into the middle or over complicate the finish.

But maybe winning a tournament with England and being around the treble is the confidence boost he needs to feel at home as a City player? He could improve beyond recognition if it just clicks for him.

Not sure why you think overthinking and nerves is something only older players get?!
