Europa League and Conference

I watched their game against Roma. They gave PEG a lesson in modern football.

They might be worth a couple of quid on winning the tournament.
If they had kept their players they had before christmas I definitely think they would have had every chance in the world.

They might get their striker Botheim back, who was incredible in the 6-1 against Roma, because his contract at Krasnodar got terminated because of the war but not sure if he will be allowed to be registered for the remaining fixtures - if they go through, not over yet)

Anyway, most exciting time for Norwegian football since the 90's, Eggen's Rosenborg and the huge export of players to english football. Knutsen's Glimt, Ødegaard and Haaland, finally a competent national team coach and a ridiculous amount of talent coming through, one of them our very own Oscar Bobb. Happy days

Didn’t know about the exodus, that’s a shame.

Hope they can still win it though. It’s an amazing story and effort on zero money.

It wasn't as bad as it could have been but they had to sell Berg (Lens), Lode (Schalke), Botheim (Krasnodar) and Bjørkan (Hertha). If you add the last couple of seasons in to the mix they have lost several high-performing players. They replace most of them with young in-house norwegian talent though. Botheim for example was brought in on a free to replace their top goalscorer Junker who went to China. Before Botheim went to Glimt he was a written of waste-of-talent that had just finished a goalless loan spell at a norwegian relegation candidate and given up by Rosenborg. One year and fantastic domestic and intercontinental season later he gets sold to Russia and replaced by Runar Espejord who comes on a free from their neighbours in the north of Norway and flopped in the Eredivisie earlier in his career. He has already scored some vital goals in Europe for them. Their story, system and way to do thing is really impressive.

Ola Solbakken and Hugo Vetlesen is probably the next two to get big european moves

From the reaction of the commentator, players and fans to that goal at the london stadium, I had to check if it was the final

no it’s the round of 16 !!!

What’s wrong with fans celebrating scoring in a European game? Presumably you weren’t at City for the quarter final against Hamburg in 2009 and, if you were, you must have hated it….
