How did Marseille get as far as a European final? That is a bang average team.
Quietly pleased. In my experience, Marseille fans are curiously like Liverpool fans. Maybe it's something to do with being a big port town with an important past and a diminished present, economically speaking. Giving it the big one relentlessly, banging on about history, always telling others that they're the biggest team in the country, huge chip on their shoulder. I also, with my own eyes, saw them smash up a whole load of seats at Gerland (Olympique Lyonnais' stadium) at the beginning of the 90s – I was with my son at the time – with no provocation whatsoever, so they have that lawlessness in common, too.
Now, roll on Real. Do it to the other lot, please.
