Salzburg is 1hr 30mins drive from Munich and Oktoberfest starts on the 18th. Just a heads up for a possible extra.

Nice, Milan, Geneva look the main ones i think, which you can get to from the North West.. Anyone got anymore to add, which are worth looking at??

I used to work in the French Ski resorts and I'd recommend flying to Grenoble - it's closer to Turino than the three mentioned.
Flights to Grenoble will also be cheaper than Geneva and you can get a train or Shuttle bus to Turin.

BE QUICK!!
Flights to Grenoble and Geneva are going to be expensive as it's the week before Christmas and the airlines will be trying to fleece the Christmas Ski Trip crowd.
