Europa League

I wouldn't mind the Europa (Prefer the CL though) but if it comes to it and we can go all the way then it's only 2 more games than a run to the CL Final would be, which could easily be managed with a bit of rotation especially if we get a decent lead in a 1st leg.

Should we fail to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champios League, and have to go into the knockout stages of the Europa League we will end up playing 1 of the clubs that has finished 3rd in their group from that comp. That is providing that they haven't made any changes from last year, as to the way the draw is made.

As things stand at the moment that is Spurs, F.C. Copenhagen, Rapid Bucuresti, Lazio, Dynamo Kiev, Salzburg, Austria Wien, Braga, Celtic, Steaua Bucuresti, O.B. Odense, and Sturm Graz. If things stay as they are and all those teams finished where they are now with 2 games to go. The only team that we cannot play will be Spurs, as they come from our own league.

The squad that we have should be quite capable of beating any of those teams, especially as the 2nd leg will be at home.

If anyone is interested, I just wrote a blog called 'Why the Europa League isn't the end of the world'. You can read it here:

I forget, do they seed teams for the draw?? UEFA changes stuff so often. Combine that with my "advanced" age, I tend to forget things.....

good post mate. Very ignorant of us as a fan base who have won a single trophy in a generation to dismiss a major European trophy as a hindrance. We prepared to play in Europe all season, this would be no different aside from an extra round.

Pretty sure teams that finish 3rd are out 12 groups 2 qualify from each group plus third placed teams from 8 champions league groups = last 32. That said we could get POAK think they're from Salonika it was a proper few days over there last Feb.
