European elections results

Its not what you have all been saying all week im afraid lol.

Honestly its really difficult to debate with people who now almost constantly see a losing political result as a victory.

Im off to bed ;-)

As it stands, the BP has less votes than the LD and Greens combined.

Given that the BP is a one issue party, surely your victory must seem somewhat moot.

Imagine the Labour Party change their stance and go full remain. Torys under Boris go hard Brexit.

Farage and Boris would be dead in the water.

The Lib Dems have too, they’ve grown hugely.

The winners are BP, Lib Dem, Green, SNP.

Out of those four the BP the most obviously, but it’s as you were leave vs remain.

I’d argue Remain slightly up but we’d end up arguing that ;-)
They've grown, yes, but that was to be expected as they hoovered up the Labour vote.

The BP has taken seats from Labour, Conservatives and all of UKIP. The Greens are the only other surprise, with 4 seats more, and the biggest disaster has been for Labour rather than the Conservatives, which is the other shock.

The issue on which is higher, leave/remain really does appear to focus on those who voted for those 10 labour seats; were they remain MEP's or not?

Brexit is a "extreme" view. The general population couldn't give a shit or are nowhere near as passionate.

Stay in, come out, it's the "meh" vote. The ones who care the most are the ones who have been the most vocal.

Not sure what you’re getting at there pal. In my experience, talking to my extended family, my workmates, friends, at footy, in the pub - it has cropped up at all those places on conversation a lot, and not always being brought up by me for example, so tbh I’ve met quite a lot of people who could give a shit. Some of them are even worried their employers companies could be at risk re potential job losses. If people think they wouldn’t notice any difference to their lives, they’re wrong. If they do realise this, and still don’t care, then in that case, that is indeed bonkers imho

Away from the Brexit stuff, it's quite nice to have a party like the Green's up there, who genuinely give a shit about our environment and aren't climate change deniers like a certain party across the pond.

The Greens could gain more support in local elections on pressing home the importance of the environment and protecting the green belt. The Lab/Con dominance of politics is ending and about time.
The only people campaigning to protect the green belt are (a) people who want to perpetuate a housing shortage and (b) opposition parties who do not have the duty and responsibility to produce a viable and sound Local Plan.

It pretty obvious that Bob is either a wind up merchant or a bit of a joke, perhaps a bit of both? I'm beginning to think hes actually a Scouser. They won really you know as they only lost one game!

It's more that they care about local issues, local politics and that brexit is seen as a sideshow that needs to be resolved one way or another. They don't have any real opinion on the EU itself. I too, in my experience, talking to extended family, friends, workmates etc, although it pops up in conversation, they either reveal their stance or that they didn't bother voting. It's not that 60% don't care, it's that they don't care as much.

All these celebrations from the BP, they’ve won some seats in the EU.
because .... we haven’t left.
Keep on thinking your won though.
It's the second battle in a very long war, and the momentum has shifted back once again.
