European elections results

That's exactly my reading of things

Looking pessimistically to the future and expecting the EU sycophants at Westminster to find some way to prevent the UK from Leaving - the changing makeup of the EU parliament offers some hope that the 'full-on' federalist aspirations of the likes of Macron might be stymied or at least slowed down

Let's hope that these results also have an impact on the attitudes of the EU leaders and motivates them to not offer a further extension as they prefer to be shot of the UK MEPs.

What would be your solution ?

Having just seen how you cannot understand basic explanations on the Brexit Party thread and are just so insulting to everyone that has the temerity to hold a different opinion to you...……….

Why do you think anyone should be arsed to respond to you - it would likely just lead to more close-minded insults?

Yep.

Again, insult people, complain, answer fuck all, dodge anything difficult, throw in some sarcasm, insult some more, whine about people, dodge some more, insult some more, whine some more, answer nothing.

You've done about 200 posts of it so why change.

Have a 2nd referendum. Not on whether to leave or remain as that has already been done but on what type of leave people want (from realistically achievable options). It would give both leavers and remainers a chance to shape Brexit.

Should have been done straight after the referendum though. It's the only way I can see of bridging the divide in the country and the political impasse.

It should have been the deal from day one.

But now, Farage & Co strongly oppose any kind of vote, even though they were already demanding one, before the referendum result came in.

I think this vote is in clear favour of not compromising on Brexit. We either remain, or leave completely in a hard Brexit. The Tories, trying to find a version of Brexit to please everyone (or displease the least people) and Labour, with their 6 tests, have been resoundingly rejected here.

The Tories are able to shift position with a new leader. I personally think the performance of TBP will put the shits up then enough to put Boris in as leader, as he's the only one with charisma to rival Farage. He won't be able to get anything through parliament, and we'll have a GE.

What happens now? Surely we can't just plod on like we have been doing the last 2 years.

After last night the Tories will surely elect a hard brexiteer. If they go down the Hammond route they will just lose more votes.

Labour look likely to campaign on a 2nd referendum. They surely can see what fence sitting has done for them.

It's then presumably upto Boris or whoever to call an election. Or will the new Tories just say we are leaving in October full stop and could they get it through parliament.

This seems like a sensible suggestion to me.

Yer. A switch of, erm, deeply held principles should see them right. Stick the Star of David on their pamphlets and even better. Nobody will see through that.
I was going to say it's unbelievable, but seeing the hoop jumping and adjustment of stats that's occurred since
last night, it isn't really. The comfort blanket that's been newly knitted since midnight now is a patchwork quilt of
adding up the one who came second, by a fair stretch, then throwing in the greens, a party
that hasn't committed to remain, as yet, a further distance third,
then disregard the conservative and Labour votes entirely. Then, there is yet another assumption that Lenin is
now bound to go full on remain, despite him being a leaver since Adam was a lad, his party fully supporting the
2016 referendum, and saying so repeatedly, even before this latest vote, and it all adds up to an overwhelming
desire to stay in the EU. They now can't get rid of him without the support of the half million kids, Trots, anarchists
and other far left fruitcakes that make up a goodly chunk of their membership and love him, so good luck with that.
The remain parties, officially only one, are then somehow going to immediately go into coalition with those who might be,
again ignoring tory and labour leavers and storm a referendum that they might, but almost certainly won't, get.
And we take the piss out of RAWK.
