European Super League | ECJ rule that UEFA and FIFA acted unlawfully in blocking Super League (p 29)

The super league won't get off the ground, it was meant as a replacement of the UEFA competitions not PL. UK Gov will just ban clubs from football operations in the UK if they tried quitting the PL for ESL.
On what basis would the government be able to ban a business from plying its trade

Hopefully the clubs have learned their lesson from the disastrous first launch of this. Qualification needs to be via sporting performance/merit. There needs to be a promotion/relegation dynamic. There needs to be the ability for clubs in the domestic pyramid to gain entry. Providing these points are addressed I'd be in favour. Too much negativity regarding the potential of this idea if correctly implemented imo.

Maybe this ruling will encourage a governing body to cooperate, if not, the clubs may have to initially form a league via a breakaway. Sometimes the status quo has to be broken completely to implement change and I wouldn't blame the clubs for that, worked out well for the premier league.

The thing is, it didn't collapse because of European law. It collapsed because of fan backlash - the match-going fan does not want this shite.
The match going fan doesn’t want silly kick off times.
The match going fan doesn’t want sky high ticket pricing.
The match going fan doesn’t want VAR.
But the fact is nobody gives a flying fuck about the match going fan. So they will get what they are given. Take it or leave it. They know the majority will take whatever is dished up to them regardless of what they say or do beforehand.

The ESL was the clubs responding to UEFA / FIFA being a money making leech on them. UEFA / FIFA control their competitions to the extent that a stadium cant have a sponsor's name as it might conflict with their partners. UEFA are more than a controlling body they are a competitor to the clubs for sponsors. IIRC FIFA were backing the ESL as they are effectively rivals to UEFA hence the new world club championship, they want more income and are envious of UEFA and their UCL cash cow. The issue that I think fans had with ESL was, it being a closed competition and the effect on the PL, the envy of all the other major leagues. The ESL 6 weren't looking to leave the EPL, they wanted their cake and eat it, the proposed format would have affected the EPL making it a somewhat devalued competition secondary for the 6.
The ESL will now return in a modified concept, they will look at what the majority of fans were against hoping it will get less opposition, remember the PL6 didn't officially leave. UEFA modified the UCL in response to the ESL, with the new concept to be introduced next season, will it be enough? I somewhat doubt it

Increasingly in opposition fan forms I am seeing lfc, utd, barca fans calling for, being for an ESL so that City can be stopped.

I think the red clubs are going to break away soon, or demand City, PSG, Newcastle, threat, are dealt with.

We'll be invited to it, but it will be a small seat at the table. We are the threat they fear most.
Exactly. It underpins everything. We only got invited last time at the 11th hour and with a load of strings attached.
Unless the UAE actively funds Super League 2 in some capacity, I doubt we'd get a meaningful invite
