RAG, if you use a clubs previous European track record to determine who should compete in this league then you are preventing any other club from building up a European history of any sort. All you have then is the same teams always competing for the "European Trophy" which is exactly what eliminating competition is about, that then becomes like the Yank "World Series" when only one country in the world plays the fucking game...........
"Contributed significantly to European football" - what a load of bollocks, Celtic and Rangers have been in a European competition virtually every year since they started because they play in a 2 horse mickey mouse league. In all that fucking time they have won 2 cups between them and there are plenty of other no-mark clubs that regularly appear in the CL because of other mickey mouse leagues just to make up the numbers so the big 8 (or so) get to regularly feed at the CL trough.
If you want to put in clubs with a good European record then Notts Forest should be in there, no fucking way will that happen.....

Nonsense, never happen, he is probably panicking as to how they are going to pay back the money he has just borrowed and has come up with this no brainer. Having said that I can see the teams mentioned above being fully supportive of it, closed shop, all the money, it is how they have operated in the past.

It'd be great for the Rags, think of the money they could save. Get Fat Sam in as manager, sign a load of shit players, finish just above the relegation zone each year and still get guaranteed entry to the premier European competition.

They're certainly considered a traditional European club and have won the bloody thing too.
Whats wrong with that? Celtic Park is notoriously difficult for even the best teams in Europe to get a win at. And they're not exactly poor clubs either, well, Celtic isnt in any debt, its quite rich, it doesnt spend a lot of money on players because certain players arent attracted to Scottish football, not Celtic FC.bluemoon05 said:Celtic and Rangers? He's trying to bring back the G14 by the looks of things.
I think a trick was missed when the G14 tried to do this,they should have been allowed to form their own league BUT should also have been prevented from entering any other domestic/euro comps outside of the G14.fuck em.

I TAKE A STRONG VIEW ON THIS..... like european union ...each to their own!! ...and when platini gets his way ( local players in a team) it will be better socially and bring back the fundamental pride in the jersey (once they sort out drug issues with the youth in some areas) i d love to see real madrid when it comes into the rulebook. superleague is horrible and is an idea designed to tear football into pieces....what do small clubs have left to play for only the chance once or twice a season to battle their wits against these "top dogs".....its greed again..... anyhow the english prem` is still the best league out there ( at present) so why even debate it

A European super with no one getting relegated and promoted would be utter crap. If they some how found a way though of having relegation and promotion tied into it might be ok. As in if the bottom 3 got relegated the winners of both European cup competitions get promoted with the runners up of each Euro cup competition playing off against each other.
