European super league

My opinion now is the exact same as my opinion when this was first proposed, and dare I say it's probably the opinion shared by the club. We're alright and don't want to push for any changes to the existing format but IF it were to happen then it would be incredible act of incompetence by the board to not join it.

Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland do not win football matches in the high level view. Revenue wins football matches. The higher the revenue, the more likely you are to win. If this increases revenue significantly and our rivals are in it, then we must also be in it.

You are assuming we will be invited. First thing they will do is ban "state-owned" clubs. Job done.

It may well fail but it doesn't mean the CL/UEFA can continue to exist in its current form. I think that eventually some sort of alternative to the CL will emerge. At present football (PL and CL) is regulated by organisations which have corrupted structures. And those same organisations compete commercially with the clubs for revenues at the same time as they inflict damage on some of the clubs with (illegal) financial controls. Fans are increasingy ripped off by EUFA/FIFA, the broadcasters, and the clubs themselves. The only solution must involve some sort of strong independent regulator and, of course, there is no guarantee that will succeed.
I think the time will never come when this person isn't clad in scarlet or white.

Just as we are motivated by revenue, so are they. They attack us off the pitch to stop us winning on the pitch because that hurts their revenue - that's the ONLY reason the redshirts give a shit. They're not interested in trophies or morals or anything else, they're bothered that our ascension takes a CL place and our growth takes revenue off their table. It's only the comment sections of websites that think "state owned clubs" are a problem because many football fans are lunatics, frankly.
The competition is worth more to broadcasters with us in it than out of it so we'll be among the first invited like we were with the last incarnation of the Super League.

We were the very last to be invited last time, and that only after Bayern said no?

***Thicko alert****
Is this instead of us playing in the PL or just something that replaces the CL ?

I've not looked at the proposal tbh, but whatever they are suggesting now you can be sure it will be changed to replace the domestic leagues at some point.

These guys are as slippery as politicians. They will sell it as economic cooperation but gradually increase integration until it's impossible to pull out. If my trust in the PL is is 10/100, my trust in this guys is a fraction of 1/100.

Our inclusion had nothing to do with any other team, and far from being the last to be invited, we were one of the founding group who had a permanent league spot.

Really? That's not how I remember the narrative at the time. But narratives can be manipulated, I suppose. You have a source for that?

Under no circumstances would I accept us jumping in bed with the clubs that have spent years trying to destroy us. If we joined a Super League with the rags, Liverpool, arsenal, bayern, barca etc I'm done with City forever. Its my red line. For me Soriano should have walked for posting that Glazer written shite on our website and too many of you were too quick to forgive it
I was shocked too that we put a glazer letter up but maybe that was a message from the club to the fans that we had no choice but to follow
