Eva Carneiro(ex Chelsea Doctor)

I think that is highly unlikely.

She had the option of £1.2 million, she turned that down not on a whim but on professional advice. I suspect whatever she received there was a confidentiality clause attached, there'll be no headline banners in the press along the lines of "My Chelsea Nightmare" or "Mourinho The (fill in the blank)".

Chelsea and Utd are multi million pound corporations, she will have been offered a mouth watering amount to go away and keep quiet.

That is a possibility but it doesn't mean that is what happened.

Accepting a settlement close to cross examination is often to a "cowards settlement" as it indicates a movement towards compromise from the complainant. It's possible that Chelsea's opening offer expired and the doctor and her legal team began to shit themselves when Chelsea did not increase the offer.

A lot of us are making assumptions but we don't know what happened.

So she's free to come to us now? Yes am shallow n want to ogle her.if she can do a good job then that's a bonus

Going by the statement Chelsea released I don't really think Carneiro did too much compromising, that came across like she had their bollocks in a really firm grip. Plus, there's limits to what a ET will pay out but if she'd won at the tribunal she would have had the option to pursue for defamation because of Maureen's public and personal comments (directly attacking her and disparaging her ability to do her job in front of a TV audience of millions). If Chelsea were offering her 10 years wages to drop it they must have been fucking shitting themselves.

Open and shut constructive dismissal cases do not normally lead to such high payouts. If anything, they are pitiful. I suggest you check the formulas ETs use to calculate constructive dismissal awards.

Regardless, a confidential settlement was agreed, not an award from the ET. We do not know what the settlement was. It could be less than what was offered or it could have been more.

If it was more, then I believe that she has something against the club.

It could well have been that the £1.2m offer had expired before the ET. With the prospect of being faced with cross examination by the ET panel, she may have accepted a lower payout.
True regarding the nominal value of a possible award, though I would imagine it is the high profile nature of the potential muck spreading that increases her leverage. Even if there is nothing more to report from a regulatory point of view, this would have been mana for the media and anathema for a man who is trying to focus on a new and critical job.
Put simply more mess is the last thing he needs - so in settling she gets paid far more than the 'going rate' thanks to context.

They probably offered so much as well paid employees would be attending, the briefs will be on a packet and, of course, reputational damage. The statement, in all likelihood was part of the agreement.

You have to ask yourself why Chelsea would suddenly pay substantially more (we don't know that) at the last minute if the deal had expired (we don't know if that happened). Surely they would have come up with another offer. I know that at ETs you get last minute offers but they are generally not a great deal more than the previous offer.

There are a lot of question marks without knowing the details of the statement. I am simply playing Devil's Advocate. Some people are jumping to conclusions without all of the facts being available.

I certainly can't disagree with your reasoning.

She must have had something up her sleeve, most of the potential reputational damage had already been done, would have been fairly public knowledge to any important employees and was only compounded by the club statement. Imo the very most they would have had to pay at the ET was 2 years wages and even that was unlikely as she'd already taken an alternate job, the legal fees for a 3 day tribunal (considering the bigger part would have been paid out already in retainers and billable hours pre-tribunal) wouldn't have made up the excess. Also the reaction from the players to Maureen afterwards makes me think there was far worse behind the scenes than happened on the pitch and Chelski really fucked up with their handling of it.

That's the point I made earlier. If she has received a higher payout, then that could well explain things.

Club doctors know a lot about the clubs most valuable assets....

Not what I was thinking but coupled with the huge drop in performance and the fact she's no longer working in the industry...
