Everton 2017/18

According to the BBC allardyce wants an extended stay at Everton. I'm sure that will go down well... somewhere
Anfield.

They could do worse than getting Mark Hughes for a few years. This is sort of what he's good at. He can get them playing OK football, ready to elevate them to whatever their next level is and another managerial upgrade.

Hughes probably would stop the rot...for now. But as is always the case when the same-old-same-old's (Hughes/Pullis/Fat Sam/Twitcher/Elephant Man, etc) take over somewhere, you know it's only a matter of time before they're fired and the clubs are back where they started. It's cyclical.

I don't see Hughes quite at the same standard as Pulis, Pardew, Allardyce et al just yet. I think he might have a couple of managerial jobs left in him before he dips to their levels.

He can steady their ship, try to raise their level, and probably have one last attempt at being successful. If he doesn't get another second tier (in the PL) job, I can see him joining the old brigade fairly soon, leaving Dyce and Howe as the up and coming hopefuls.

Everton aren't ready for a stellar manager just yet.

Heard it from an impeccable source that he's nailed on for the Arsenal gig. Get money on it.
I know one lad who stands to make a lot of money if that happens.

Not a surprise whatsoever. It was the most comical name to succeed Kidman. Wonder who next. Probably again the total opposite person to Allerdyce.

It was laughable that he was hired by Everton and a reflection that even under new ownership they remain a floundering club with no direction

I agree. Allardyce is good at doing a particular job but with the new ownership and heavy investment, Everton should never have considered him. To be fair, Marco Silva was their first choice but when they couldn’t prise him away from Watford, they shouldn’t have given it to Allardyce. And as good a manager as Silva is, I feel Everton should be setting their sights higher. I also feel that, given time, Koeman would’ve gotten things right there.

Yeah, I would've liked to have seen what Koeman could do there as well had he been allowed more time. Big reason why I thought they might consider Van Gaal rather than Big Sam

When you see ownership making kneejerk decisions like what we have seen last season, it illustrates they don't really have a plan

The only way Everton can challenge is to build a great defence then build a midfield and attack on top of that. They should have kept Sam for another couple if years to buikd the dedence.
They will finish lower than 8th next season.

My source has got back to me and told me to scrub that. When he gave me that tip, he didn't know Wee Davey was available. He's told me to tell you good people (and the wankers on here as well) to lump on Moyesey.

Fat Sam is laughing all the way to the bank (again). He’ll just wait for whomever starts the season badly and he’ll be back in work. Complete crook but he’s not alone and he’s one of many who take far more out of football than they put in.

He's another Manager who keeps getting jobs but he's a dinosaur in today's game

How does a dinosaur manager get such good results out of teams on there arse ? This is now Bolton, West Ham, Newcastle Sunderland and now Everton who progressed when he comes into the clubs. No wonder clubs beg for him when there facing relegation , that to me tells me he’s a better manager than most, especially the glamorous managers who can spend unlimited amount on players
