Is that @Dave Ewing's Back 'eader ERO ?

When you say ’unscrupulous’, could that also be used to portray a club trying to force a game knowing that a fifth of the opposition squad, 5 in key positions, would be unable to play due to incapacitation, and that there is a greater chance of a positive result?

I'd like more details of the timings. I should think the squad would have assembled about noon ready to go after a light lunch and testing of all players whilst together.
But l would describe Everton attitude as' shabby,' at least

Had the game gone ahead as planned, I am certain there would have been more than one positive result.

Because I honestly thought Everton were better than this. Ok Everton went abit silly when we signed Lescott but that was mostly their knobhead manager. I guess we saw the true Everton back thsn !. Never set foot in Merseyside and never will. Most of their fans on here are ok just odd how so far out of touch efc seem to be with their own fans. Always thought efc were a good family club similar to City unfortunately that statement last night shows us the club isnt. Sadly
Really poor statement that. Surprised that a club should be so brazen about their self-interest and ignore the welfare of players and staff. No doubt it's disappointing for them but it only takes a moment's thought to think about the circumstances.

Everton's public statement is egregious. Any misgivings they had should have been raised discretely with the appropriate authorities

My enemy's enemy is not my friend

perhaps we should have played the game - despite the fact all of our players including those who would have played , were together for the 48 hours before & have all used the same facilities - and therefore potentially put all the Everton team at risk.
We would then have been charged with having no consideration & total irresponsible behaviour. Especially if we’d taken 3 points & gone second in league

Can Danny Mills get more stupid or hateful?? It's fuck all to do with us trying to get one over on Everton, or how many players out is deemed reasonable to call off a game, it's about a virus accelerating through a club rapidly. Everton can fuck off too, there's the explanation right there. If their local supermarket suddenly had an outbreak amongst it's staff, would they say to their players and staff it was okay to still shop there? Would they fuck. It isn't how many have it, it's how many potentially have it and could then infect people at Everton. While we're at it we and other club's could rightly say it is unfair that certain clubs are allowed to have fans when we can't, but we haven't. It's supposed to be an even and fair competition and fan's give them an edge. Not one set of fan's have followed the covid rules as well, which is no singing or shouting so all club's with fan's should have that privelage taken away. They can't have it all their own way, we need clarification on that.

True colour seriously have been shown in the last day from the media. It really is time for our club to stamp down on this shit and get some of this fuckers banned. Why do they constantly allow journalists to shit on our club and take no action. It’s pathetic

It's probably a bit poorly worded, the Everton statement, but they are well within their rights for full disclosure. Any club would if a game was cancelled at such short notice.

Let's hope anyone who has tested positive is ok and fighting fit soon enough.

I will repeat it again. They are within their rights, but didn't have to do it publicly.
They are playing politics when people's health is at risk.
Still no statement wishing the affected people well...

I cannot for the life of me imagine that the Prem called Everton:
'Hello Everton, Prem here'
'Hi Prem'
'Bad news, game off'
'Why ?'
'Five City players have tested positive'
'So?'
'Can't say any more'

Surely the Prem would have said to Everton 'There is a very real risk that the virus could spread quickly assymptomatically amongst the 22 on the pitch.'
The last paragraph shouldn't need saying....half a brain cell could work that did out, in retrospect it would need saying as it's Liverpool.

Agree. Hope the players build snowmen with city tops on in their gardens today with the words FxxK the media in the snow then put the pics across all their social channels

where’s mario when we need him maybe mendy can step up :-)

I understand why Everton, from a commercial aspect, would want clarification on the timeline of events, that's perfectly reasonable. I don't understand why they felt the need to include that in their statement, better to just express disappointment that the game had to be postponed, show a bit of concern and sympathy with the people infected and then make the request to the Premier League privately. I only caught snippets of the post match interviews with Frank Lampard, Dean Smith, Roy Hodgson and Brendan Rodgers on SSN but was disappointed that none of them showed any concern for the players and staff from our club.

I love how they're all acting like we didn't have a game postponed last season because Arsenal had four players out with it. And as it was then, yes in theory having four players out from covid shouldn't be different to any other injury or sickness, but this one risks passing it on to other players, so it should only be played when it's safe to do so.

I don't really know enough about how the science of testing for it works, but my assumption would be that if someone catches the virus, it doesn't show up instantly on a test, and so that's why the decision to postpone the game was taken so late. If new cases are discovered a couple of days before a game, then there's time to test people and for those tests to be accurate. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
