Everton (A) | Game Postponed

I love how they're all acting like we didn't have a game postponed last season because Arsenal had four players out with it. And as it was then, yes in theory having four players out from covid shouldn't be different to any other injury or sickness, but this one risks passing it on to other players, so it should only be played when it's safe to do so.

I don't really know enough about how the science of testing for it works, but my assumption would be that if someone catches the virus, it doesn't show up instantly on a test, and so that's why the decision to postpone the game was taken so late. If new cases are discovered a couple of days before a game, then there's time to test people and for those tests to be accurate. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Obviously we don't bother with all that testing malarkey and just made it all up to get a night off

Tasteless Toffees

A classless, divisive statement from Everton at a time when unity is needed, ill judged and left open for buffoons in The Mail and the like on Twitter and at Sky to make mischief. They could not even bring themselves to wish well all the staff and players affected or potentially affected by C19.

On the football front, City are on a roll and have a much higher quality squad. Everton had lots of injuries. It actually suited them more than City but neither teams wanted a postponement that was ultimately deemed necessary by the appropriate authorities for health and safety reasons. Yet Everton`s pretense of an affronted party is poor. Why did they not simply ask the Premier League rather than doing this through a deliberate statement after the event?

I have travelled to lots of games over the years when the match has been called off an hour or less before. What is up with them? At a time of rising Covid cases and a new strain, City had to play in Tier 4 Arsenal last week. What is it that Everton want explaining?

A football match has been postponed. We have a national C19 crisis. Lets have some perspective and togetherness.

the difference being as Gnev should know (being as hes so knowlegable) is rule 5.1 of the carabao cup if a team cannot fulfil the fixture they would forfeit the tie ,
Yet that is not set to happen for next week's semi-final, even if it cannot take place as scheduled.
EFL Cup laws state that the rule forcing clubs to withdraw from the competition if they cannot fulfil a fixture was only in place until the fourth round.
That means the semi-final will likely be rearranged if its postponed
Gnev? Fucking Gnev?

Wash your keyboard with bleach!!!!

Its worth noting that the premier league postponed the entire season when hospital occupancy and infections weren’t at the level they are now. Add to this a more contagious mutation of the virus where the country is being shut off from the entire world. City should be taking chances to get this fixture played is the message from the media here. City are being hammered by hacks for being over cautious when these same publications were hammering the likes of Dominic Cummings for not taking it seriously. Anything to get an angle for a negative storyline.

very hard for liverpudians that ..

Just like the ffp situation, we've been found guilty by the haters in the media and gullible fans of other clubs.
We deal in facts not fiction, we followed the premierships protocol, the premiership postponed the game not City but don't let the truth obstruct their agenda and hatred towards us.
It's sad that Evertons response has made them look and sound like their neighbours from hell, bad showing from them under extreme circumstances.
Ray boy neville can suck my stump, average player who was known more for being bechams bum boy, shite manager, his true hatred of City is showing through, once a sad sack always a sad sack.

A City statement said: "After the latest round of Covid-19 testing, the club returned a number of positive cases, in addition to the four already reported on Christmas Day. Based on strong medical advice the Premier League, in consultation with both clubs, have decided to postpone the fixture."

City reported new positive coronavirus tests on Monday, in addition to those they had confirmed on Christmas Day. The Premier League then agreed at a board meeting to postpone the match.

I really don’t know what Neverton are going on about it’s clear that the PL cancelled and both clubs were involved

It would have been irresponsible for City to play the game with a strong chance of passing on the virus to another bubble one which contains a high risk individual in the manager 61 years old.

Their press release should have just expressed their disappointment at the postponement, apologies to any fans who were inconvenienced understanding of the reasons and sent good wishes to those affected
Instead it was classless unnecessary and I firmly believe they knew exactly what they were doing

It was probably written and released in temper. Not professional and certainly lacking any class or empathy for the individuals concerned. These are people after all. The least they can do now, in the cold light of day, is clarify and it and say something more accurate. And since they are so conscious of their 'brand,' the PL should make them and then do the same

They are jumping on the bandwagon , its popular to give us a good kicking it will please 99.9% of the moronic internet plastic football fans from Loserpool to Timbuktu who take anything and everything negative about our football club as gospel , and its getting quite tiresome but ever so predictable

perhaps we should have played the game - despite the fact all of our players including those who would have played , were together for the 48 hours before & have all used the same facilities - and therefore potentially put all the Everton team at risk.
We would then have been charged with having no consideration & total irresponsible behaviour. Especially if we’d taken 3 points & gone second in league
Can you imagine the scouse victim backlash if we’d have infected their players and god forbid anyone dipper even became remotely ill! Yellow tickers on sky sports demanding punishment points deducted a day of mourning!
