Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I agree in a way, Jack gives us more of a balance and he keeps the ball so well. Although that trio hasn't played together yet so who knows.
And Jack defensively is better . In the 90th minute last night he ran across the pitch flat out to close down Pickford and is constantly a thorn in the opposition’s side

I enjoyed that as much as any game this season. Everton were a real live opponent - in good form and with a clear game plan. Their goal was against the run of play but our second-half, especially, was full of control and threat. I thought Foden, Ake, Kovacic, Grealish and Gvardiol were all excellent, as was Pep whose substitutions were superb. Well done, blues.

Who is Lewis Jones? Doesn't look much of a football jounslist to me
why would you make Everton to beat City as your headline..what was that based on ? Looks out of his depth as a ' Football journalist '
Absolutely clueless - clown is supposed to be an expert on predicting results with regular slot on Sly “Jones knows” should change that it to “Jones knows……fuck all”!

Goodison park is falling down ................

Sean Dyche is a fucking clown .......

The ten ponts loss will cost them dear ....

City fans are on the beer ......

Why are our fans constantly knocking our players ?
I don't understand it....Fair does piss me off though.
I don't know whether other clubs are the same but we do have a problem with it. The match day thread constantly scapegoats certain players and we have a group of fans who cannot help but pop at those who have just arrived as 'never will be good enough'; Nunes being the latest in a long, long line.

The shot was never going goalwards. It went 1 foot forward and 4 foot up.

Should never be a handball as the ones previously given against us Grealish/Sterling shouldn't have been given either

I am genuinely amazed you can look at that and think that is not a penalty.

And then try argue with all sorts of tangents like some shitty pretend lawyer, and then question my thought process, intentions, and effect on society. Fucking weird pal.

Amazed anyone thinks that should be a
Penalty. As Grealish’ shouldn't have been in the cup final

Pretty much every ex pro and both managers tonight are with me.

PGMOL are with you!!

I know which camp id rather be in….

As pointed out, it wasn't both managers. and wasn't even every 'ex-pro'. Cling in there.

There isn't a controversy surrounding the penalty, by the current rules it's a clear penalty, that bit can't really be argued, and none of the people who spoke about it tonight said otherwise (well maybe Dyche, but I never understand his stupid riddles, so who knows ?).

The only controversy is with the rules, if a shot hits an arm a yard away, when there was clearly no intention to handball, just block, should it be handball ? The problem is, in one game it's given, and in another it isn't. The referee tonight didn't give it (don't think he saw it), but the linesman did, and indicated with his flag "penalty", don't know if var got involved to check, that wasn't made clear on the coverage I watched.

Var checked it, it was said bith in the match and after. I have no real issue with the rule. Any longer term issue is with how it is applied in other instances. In this one, that is a penalty all day long. If there was a version of the rules where that wasnt, that version would be wrong for the game.

I'm not convinced about the lad Nunes - I'm not sure how he improves you - I think he makes you less effective.
Nunes seemed like a panic buy after Paqueta fell through. I saw little in Nunes at Sporting or Wolves to suggest he was of the highest level quality required for City, hence the surprise from most of us when we signed him.

Normally players show something prior to us buying them, but I've never seen that special something in Nunes previously, & still can't.

My hope is we get the three central midfielders we're clearly in need of, sooner rather than later.

For all his ball carrying attributes, Kovacic is no Gundog but he's an able midfielder to bring on when trying to control the game to maintain a lead.

I can't even recall the last time we had senior central midfielders the level of Nunes & Philips. Imagine these two playing together? Our drop off in performance would be cliff edge-like! ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯

Goodison under the lights, like a fucking morgue

Got to love the media’s pathetic attempts to talk up Goodson, probably a great ground in its day, but it’s 40 or so years out of date; a crumbling wooden structure that’s well passed its sell by date. The Goodson myth is right up there with the Anfield one.
