Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Well done you beautiful blue boys! Toothless in attack for most of the game, insisting on lobbing balls into the box against their giant defenders. All it took was a fast and low cross to turn the game.

Much needed points and confidence for the team.

Everton fans classy as usual: jeering young Savinho, shouting “handball” every time the ball was chested or headed. Never change, Everton.

Hope that was Pep tapping up Branthwaite at the end there (and not Pickford).
What a club they are. Will miss Goodison great away trip. It’s a great ground, and overall they are a good club

The result far outweighs the performance. For 80 minutes that was as bad as we’ve been all season, but two goals and boom it’s all good.

It’s a strange old game but the 90 minutes just shows why the summer and a midfield rebuild is so Important. Might also stop the de bruyne needs to stay talk.

If young Nico played in red the media would have wanked themselves into a frenzy by now in pushing for an International call up.
To be fair we were wishing the media to stop their overhyping of Rico Lewis. It was all too hyped, too much too soon, he got in the senior England team too soon, and there was too much pressure on him and his performances ended up all over the shop.

Let’s just keep it calm and hope he doesn’t get overhyped.

Massive 3 points we probably didn’t deserve based on that first 75 minutes……I'll take it tho.

Some standout performances for Gvardiol, Doku, and Nico OR. Hopefully we take that Gvardiol and Nico partnership into the summer and next season I think it’s the beginning of a really solid defensive unit……just need a decent right full back in the summer….

Get In, a big win that!

I didn't think we looked like losing and defended well, but until Doku came on we struggled breaking them down and attacking them with pace.

A great move and finish by O'Reilly and Kova comes up with another big goal.

Glad to get the 3 points and a great start to a big week.

COME ON CITY!!!!

The Boys in Blue didn’t give in. They fought to the end and showed ‘em, showed ‘em all. Thank you City, thank you lads, thank you fans.

That’ll show them know nowts of the alleged media. Ha ha ha

That shows the Specsavers needing, whistle blowing stupid poltroons we know as officials!! Now you know who we are! We are MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.

In Manchester City and Pep I trust. :-)
Keep it going Blue

Excellent, really chuffed with that. They're a very organised side and plainly wanted to muscle their way to a goal today, we stood strong and managed to find another gear in the second half.

Plenty of misplaced passes still and some of our off the ball movement in the first half was lacking to say the least, but to me that people ves we still have the DNA to compete at the very top

Think of how many are still out. Akanji back today and shoved into midfield, but no Haaland, no Ederdon (although Ortega saved us a couple of times but that distribution is poor), no Rodri, no Foden, no Stones, no Walker, in fact no recognised full backs at all.

Makes champions league look very possible again, onwards to Tuesday night and let's hope villa have run out of steam after PSG and Newcastle.

Will also say, I don't believe Marmoush can play as a striker for us. Off a striker, yes. Inside forward maybe.

Ortega saved us tow times, otherwise we would be one or two goals behind.

O’Riely is a great player going forward, fantastic but defensively he is not.

Pep made correction to the selection by introducing both Kova and Doku.
Ortega made that one great save off their set piece, but that's his job. What other prime opportunities did he save?

I couldn't disagree more about O'Riely's poor defensive play, either. I'm not sure what he's done, or not done, to make you think that.

Not sure what most of you watched.

Thought we played really well. Good level of control, good work rate, looked like they wanted it.

Superb goal by O’Reilly his movement was superb and tbf he had no right even being in the box as a full back.

Best I’ve seen Nunes play. I might even start warming to him if he carries on like that.
It’s the match day thread you numpty! What do you expect? Pep masterclass that was
