Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Had a belting booze yesterday with my 2 teenage lads in the taxi drivers club about 10 mins from where we parked and 10 mins from the ground. 50p in and £4 a pint of Guinness, sat down with 6 Everton fans, probably in their 40’s/50’s, sound as fuck, in fact to be fair every year at Everton (since 1981 anyway) they’ve been sound. Biggest myth in football is that Everton fans like liverpool, they fucking detest “the shite”, and they quite like us cos we’ve done them out of so many titles. Not got a problem with Everton and had no mither there for years, decades in fact

Not getting into a pissing match with you over something said that was over the top. We won, with a clean sheet. Not easily accomplished without competent goalkeeping.

I’m not getting into a pissing match with you neither the original conversation had fuck all to do with you, you had your input and I asked you a simple question, I’ve no idea who you are or frankly care I’ve never liased with you on here before, but you put your oar in and I’ll respond, pissing match or no pissing match

Yeah, Happy Easter.

One of Citys old left backs who we transferred to Forest, Colin Barrett I think his name was. Scored a winner for Forest against Liverpool in the European cup. After the game Cloughie said on tv that he was going to get a bollocking for being in the position he was in when scoring as he was out of position for a full back. Hope my memory is not playing tricks as it was a long time ago, so apologies if I got it wrong. Wonder if Nico got a bollocking off Pep for being where he was when scoring;-)
I remember that Barrett had taped the game (biggest moment of his career), only for his wife to tape over it with Dallas.

Good to hear you have such a good experience and it does not surprise me. We have a lot more in common with Everton than we care to admit!

Everton away of course could be a hairy away trip mainly due to Merseyside Police back in days of yore. I'll never forget their dangerous kettling of us in Edge Hill Railway yard after that League Cup Quarter Final defeat there in 87-88.

Most Everton fans are sound in my opinion barring the odd one with rather racist views. Most of the "Everton are white" and burning cross attitudes have disappeared. It was heartening to see the anti racist banner on the Gwladys when they signed Moises Kean a few years back.

Even back in the 80s most Everton fans I knew were fine and one of them is a bezzie mate. He's like a brother to me and was my best man when I got married in 2007. Lord knows how he's put up with a ranty City fan for 40 years.

It wasn't the winner - it was the second goal in a 2-0 first leg home win (Birtles got the first). Forest drew the second leg 0-0 to dump Liverpool, the holders, out. Still, it's a very good anecdote from Cloughie.

DOKU is more effective as an impact sub than starter. Seems to produce more in the last 10-15 minutes than the whole of 90.

Performance is secondary.
3 points is all that matters.
Great subs Pep.
Before anyone says they should have started they may have not had the same impact against a fresher Everton team.
Moyes has Everton well organised while we're struggling so it was never gonna be easy.
3 points away at this stage is a great result.
I agree. Actually think Doku is better as an impact sub.

I don’t know, when he scored 4 against Bournemouth he started the game, and he had an excellent debut against West Ham, problem has been his injuries imo, he needs to be injury free next season then we might eventually see the real Doku, but his injuries are killing his consistency to show what he can do.

Possibly, but I'm still not impressed by his goal assist stats. However he certainly gets fans excited which has to be a good thing.
I'd give him at least 30 minutes if we're going to use him as an impact sub as I don't believe 15 minutes is enough against most teams. I'd certainly bring him on for the last 15 if we were two up and wanted to use his pace as a threat to stop opponents pushing everybody forward.

He has a infuriating habit of trying to take opponents on and trying to.make things happen, which was in stark contrast to what the 2 other wingers had achieved in the previous 75 minutes.

When Doku started v Liverpool, his roasting of Trent aka TAA was worth watching, even if his crossing was then poor.
