Everton away

It'd be nice to carry these on and achieve the last one:

•They have shut out the opposition in six of their last eight league matches, and kept a league-high 13 clean sheets in 28 games this season.
•Roberto Mancini's side have only dropped four points from winning positions this season, winning 14 games and drawing two. It's the equal-best record in the Premier League alongside Manchester United and Arsenal.
•City's only defeat in 13 meetings against top-half opposition came in December's Manchester derby against United (W7, D5, L1).
•Victory would provide Manchester City with their 1,800th win in league football.

Let's face it Reading will lose tomorrow. Two weeks is a long time before we face Toon.

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

Aguero has failed to recover from a knee injury and will continue his recovery with his national team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia, while Tevez has tight hamstrings.

Teamtalk saying this and i hope it's not true

FFS is this it's true then we need a very big performance by Dzeko

hart
zabba-kolo-nasty-clichy
barry-garcia
milner-yaya-silva
dzeko

without both aguero and tevez, most likely this will be the team for tomorrow

Think that will be the team but it won't create or score enough tomorrow. I think tomorrow nasri as divisive as he is should play instead of Barry

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

think he'll start nasri to be honest in the absence of tevez and aguero.

Hope not. I'd prefer to see Yaya in a more forward role and I'd definitely give Milner the nod ahead of Nasri.

Zaba...............Nasty..................Lescott...........Clichy

...............Milner.............Yaya..............Silva.............

That would be my team.

*Tevez if fit.

I think people are forgetting how poor we were at villa till rodwell went off. I think a side with both Garcia and Barry and one forward won't score goals, will struggle to maintain possession and will lack mobility.

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

I havent watched full mancini interview yet but bits ive seen he says only vinnie and serg are out.If tev is fit i would play both him and ed because everton will be able to cope with height or ground attack but both at the same time will pull them about all over the place,or am i talking bull?

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

Away to Everton is always a very tough game, and with them smarting after the Wigan debacle I can see the Everton players being well up for this. Ordinarily you'd say a point at Goodison is a good result, however given the gap between us and United we need to win each of our 10 remaining games to even have a glimmer of a chance of retaining the title (and even then I supsect we'd still fall some distance short). With Aguero missing, and Kompany too, we're without 2 of our best players. Hopefully the rumours about Tevez's hamstring are false and he'll be available, if Dzeko is our only fit striker we'll be in for a tough game indeed.

I can't see beyond a draw though, beating Everton, at their place, isn't an easy thing (normally). They've only lost once, in the league, at home this season, 2-1 to Chelsea at Christmas so the odds of us inflicting just their second home league defeat are not great, especially when you consider we've only won 50% of our league away games.

Completely agree. I can't justify setting up with 2 DM's when Wigan battered them 3-0. We must set up with a high pressing line and batter them. We sit too deep with Garcia and Barry playing together and they are slow as fuck moving forward and neither can thread a long ball as precisely as Yaya.

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

Hello to all City fans, and good luck for the rest of the season.

Would you be kind enough to take a few minutes to answer a few match related questions, for a brand new Everton forum please?

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.loveeverton.proboards.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.loveeverton.proboards.com</a>

Your imput will be the first one we've done, so we can't think of a better club to start with.

1: Do you think your chances of retaining the title this year have gone?

2: Why do you think your team have perhaps not built upon last seasons successes.

3: What are your thoughts on the strength of the league as a whole this year?

4: Regarding Everton, are you expecting another competetive game on Saturday?

5: Do you have an opinion on Moyes and his contract situation?

6: Will you be courting any of our players come summer?

7: Saturdays scoreline?

I'll keep it short with the questions, and take this opportunity to wish you all the best.

Thanks very much for your participation, and all City fans will be welcomed and respected should you visit us.

Love Everton Forum.

ps. Couldn't see a start thread option, so it might be that new members can't create threads.

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

We need to get stuck into them early and let the disharmony among some of their players, manager, crowd come to the fore.

The problem is our injuries or I would have been very confident.

Kompany, Aguero, Rodwell, Richards, Maicon, Guidetti and maybe Tevez and Nasri is a very long list of players unavailable.

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

bobby says tev and nasri are fit.also everyone needs to be up for the fight in this match so hopefully milner not nasrii

It's a squad game though, isn't it?
Would rather have Nasri in the squad than not as he is a talented player when is on song (not often enough, admittedly).

Similar but i'd use Kolarov on the left and bring Silva in the centre instead of starting Dzeko. He links well with Tevez and plays at his best through the middle anyway. Because we have no wingers bar Sinclair who clearly isn't fancied, I'd go with Kolarov on the left to provide width.

I just think Everton have our 4231 sussed and they camp out in their own area and nullify us by leaving few gaps and not offering much space. By having 2 wide men it will drag them out of position and all we need is Tevez, Silva or Yaya to get on the end of a low and hard cross.

I don't particularly rate Everton once you close down their left channel. Man mark Fellaini by using Barry and boss the mdifield. They won't be able to get much working and we will dictate the game. Anything less than 3 points will upset me to be frank, Wigan made them look like a championship team and they played 343. Why people think we must set up 4-2-3-1 is beyond me.

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

We made ourselves look like a Championship team.
Wigan just had a good day, and deserved the win.
Players need to make up for it, so a draw is no good for either team.

Similar to what I think but with yaya beside Garcia and tevez where you have yaya.
