Would you be kind enough to take a few minutes to answer a few match related questions, for a brand new Everton forum please?

Your input will be the first one we've done, so we can't think of a better club to start with.

1: Do you think your chances of retaining the title this year have gone?

Yes, I don't think United will drop 12 points in the next ten games so even if we win all 10, which, with trips to Goodison, WHL, Old Trafford and the Liberty stadium still to come, we certainly won't, we won't win the league.

2: Why do you think your team have perhaps not built upon last seasons successes.

Failings in the summer transfer window have been highlighted although I don't think it was as disastrous as many claim. Nastasic has been superb this season, he's quick across the ground, good in the air and composed on the ball, he's only 19 but you'd think he'd been playing the game for 20 years. Rodwell has looked good in the brief stints we've seen him. He seems like a top lad and a great professional so I really hope he can finally get over his injury woes soon. Garcia didn't settle very quickly but whilst Yaya was away at ACoN he put in some really good displays and looks set to be Barry's long term replacement. Sinclair and Maicon haven't featured enough to have any real impact. That said, the three decent signings we made really just improved the squad, whereas United finished level on points with us and bought the league's best player and a real talent in Kagawa, so logically they should be ahead of us.

We've also suffered with injuries this season whereas we were quite fortunate on that front last year. Aguero, Kompany, Richards and Barry are key players who have had medium-long term injuries this year.

3: What are your thoughts on the strength of the league as a whole this year?

Not great, the fact for the first time in 17 years there's no English representation in the Champions League quarter-finals implies the top teams aren't as good as previous years, in particular Chelsea and Arsenal have regressed. Other "solid" Premier League teams such as Villa and Newcastle have obviously struggled and the likes of Reading and QPR have been awful at times. The only teams doing themselves and the league justice in my opinion are United, Spurs, West Brom and Swansea.

4: Regarding Everton, are you expecting another competitive game on Saturday?

Oh yes, we know to expect a battle when we come to Goodison. You seem to raise your game for matches with City, especially since the Lescott transfer, and I can sort of understand why. One of your slogans, for want of a better word, is "Everton: The People's Club", and I think similarly to ourselves, you see yourselves as the club that focuses most on its community within your city. Liverpool are the big corporate machine, or have been, in the same way United are to us. However, since ADUG came in you see us like United and Liverpool and whilst I hope the attitude of our fans, at least the match-going ones, doesn't mirror theirs, there's no denying that the club are looking to increase our reputation and revenue on a global scale. In some ways it's a little disappointing and I think back to the days when we were travelling to Wrexham and Chesterfield in the old Division 2 but then I remember Aguero scoring against QPR and to be honest, being there for that was the single greatest moment of my life and if losing a little bit of the club we used to be means we get moments like that then it seems a fair trade to me. 5: Do you have an opinion on Moyes and his contract situation?

I was surprised to hear he was stalling on signing a new contract, it'd be hard to imagine Everton without Moyes to be honest. I always imagined that if he didn't get offered the United job he'd be at Everton forever. However, it seems he's got ambitions to manage in Europe and thinks with a limited budget at Everton he may not be able to qualify consistently. It'll be interesting to see where he goes if he does leave as the only vacancies at clubs with regular European football would appear to be Chelsea, and he doesn't seem "A-list" enough for them, and possibly Arsenal, but I just can't see that happening and I can't see him going abroad.

6: Will you be courting any of our players come summer?

It'd surprise me, Fellaini and Baines are top players but I don't think Baines would leave, he suits Everton and they suit him perfectly and we've got too many similar players to Fellaini already. I mean no disrespect by this next comment but I think after last year's summer window we'll be looking to make a big name signing this window, something that would really draw attention, like Cavani for example, and I don't think any of Everton's players are at that level.

7: Saturdays scoreline?

I consider myself an optimist but with no Aguero and Tevez not 100%, I think we'll struggle more than usual so 1-0 Everton.

Answer to question 2; well, fact is, yoonited weren't that strong last season. We had a good first half to the season, scorin lots of goals, which in the end made the difference. With a better manager, we would have achieved far more. This season? Well, like a lot of blues on here, I've been through hell with City, so should be happy with the silverware we've won over the past couple of seasons, which I am. However, the summer signings we made (only 1 any good) and some of Mancini's tactical desisions, especially in the CL.........it's simply not good enough. Ariva Derci Roberto.

Not completely, but it's not looking good

Mixture of reasons. A bit of complacency, a bit less desire, other teams a bit cuter when playing us, a couple of key players moving or losing form, new players not hitting the ground running, some injuries, some general bad luck

3: What are your thoughts on the strength of the league as a whole this year?

I think the gap between the top 2/3 and the next 4 or 5 is not quite so great as it was.. 5 or 6 years ago you knew damn well on August 1st who would finish in the top 4 the following may, though maybe not the order they would finish in. We still know the champions next season will be one of City United or Chelsea, but positions 4-8 are a lot more difficult to call.

4: Regarding Everton, are you expecting another competetive game on Saturday?

I don't remember a single easy game against Everton ever.

5: Do you have an opinion on Moyes and his contract situation?

He has achieved huge things with meagre resources. I'd be surprised if many other managers could get the same results from the same resources.

6: Will you be courting any of our players come summer?

I shouldn't have thought so, to be honest. Unless we decide we want Neville to strengthen up the Ladies team.

7: Saturdays scoreline?

Yep, definitely. 12 points and possibly even more by the end of this weekend.

2: Why do you think your team have perhaps not built upon last seasons successes.
Well, I personally do not think we have gone backwards, but a lack of ambition (or at least success) in the last 2 transfer windows and missing out on signings like Hazard, Van Persie and De Rossi has stifled our progress, and once you win the league you have to improve. We have also been ridiculously unfortunate with injuries, suspensions and AFCON this season, with players like Maicon, Richards, Kompany, Kolo, Nastasic, Rodwell, Yaya, Nasri, Aguero, Tevez and Guidetti all having been out for a few weeks (or more). Form has also dropped slightly in our key players like Yaya, Aguero, Barry and Silva.

3: What are your thoughts on the strength of the league as a whole this year?
That is a tough one. I think that teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and City have become weaker than last year (as has been shown in Europe), whereas teams like Everton, West Brom, Swansea etc have improved and become stronger. I think, overall, it has become a little weaker, but is still one of the most consistently strong league through top-bottom in Europe.

4: Regarding Everton, are you expecting another competetive game on Saturday?
Not half. We rarely ever get 3 points at Goodison, and haven't in 5 years. You seem to play this as your cup final (no disrespect btw) and you always raise your game. Particularly after the Wigan game I think you will be dying to get it behind you with a win against the champions (oh, I do like saying that!).

5: Do you have an opinion on Moyes and his contract situation?
Hate the guy. A lot. Hope he stays at Everton as he is a good manager and perfect for your club, and I do not think he could handle a job with the egos at a club like us or Chelsea nor do I think he could handle the expectation at United.

6: Will you be courting any of our players come summer?
No, or at least I hope not. Fellaini is the standout name in your squad but I don't think he would suit our style of play or the position he would be played here. Jagielka would be a good buy but I don't want Mancini to drop Nastasic. Jelavic and Mirallas are also very good attackers but I think we need someone "world-class" in these positions (Bale/Di Maria/Cavani etc). Baines is another option, who would probably replace Kolarov and I don't think either he or Clichy should be on the bench.

7: Saturdays scoreline?
We are terrible at Goodison, and you are great against us, so I would be tempted to say 1-0 Everton. But for some very strange reason I actually have a good feeling about this match, 2-1 City.

A) .... Yes , we are too far behind at a bad stage of the season .... even if we did win all our remaining games , how many would United realistically lose???

A) .... We have been too complacent , we just haven't taken the job of retaining the title seriously enough , and that goes right from the quality of players that we brought in last summer ..... we are in second place of course , but that's no good when one other team is 'wanting to win the title' that bit more than us , and quite frankly is looking likely to.

3: What are your thoughts on the strength of the league as a whole this year?

A) ..... looks alright to me .... United are probably having their best ever Premiership campaign , Chelsea showed how good they can be in that second half at Old Trafford , and are on course to win more games than they managed to last season .... Liverpool look to be getting increasingly stronger , and Spurs are doing pretty well too ....... it's difficult to make Arsenal out , but they could still finish in a top four place.

4: Regarding Everton, are you expecting another competetive game on Saturday?

A) ... Definitely .... i really can't see you playing as poorly as that two games in a row , and we rarely seem to compete well at your place.

5: Do you have an opinion on Moyes and his contract situation?

A) ...... i think we're seeing a really frustrated David Moyes this season , as Everton continue to flatter to deceive ...... you're in a healthy league position , but unless he's given serious financial backing to improve the quality of the team , he's probably fearing losing more players than he's able to bring in.

6: Will you be courting any of our players come summer?

A) ..... i shouldn't imagine so .

We haven't dropped that far, and Utd have improved their results. Injuries to Aguero and Kompany have plagued City all season

Top clubs not so good as Spain, Germany, but the strength in depth of the Premiership is remarkable.

Mathematically - no; realistically - yes

Many reasons - we had an outbreak of complacency ("we've only got to run out today and we've won."), not getting some of the targets in summer (whole threads on this on the forum!), teams putting even more behind the ball than normal (I counted a line of 7 across the back for Reading at one point) and teams are pressing us higher up the pitch which we've not coped with very well at times.

3: What are your thoughts on the strength of the league as a whole this year?
Think it is still strong. There's a pack of 8 challenging for Europe in one form or another. I think it disingenuous to say the league has suddenly gone crap.

4: Regarding Everton, are you expecting another competetive game on Saturday?
Hate playing your mob as you have a great record against us. For some reason you always seem more up for it against us than you do against any other team!

5: Do you have an opinion on Moyes and his contract situation?
Think you need to do all you can to keep him - particularly with a chairman like Kenwright, he's a proper Swales type. Moyes has done fantastic for you but given the length of time he's been there, you could understand if he fancied a change. Keep him though if you can.

Dunno if we will. We will certainly be linked and probably with Fellaini, Baines and Jagielka but that's just lazy journalism as I can't see us bidding or them wanting to come.

Not confident at all but never am when playing Everton they could lose back to back games against Crawley Town, Kidderminster and Knutsford and have 12 Tony Hibberts on the pitch and we'd still lose 1-0

Yes. They went weeks ago when we lost at Southampton.

Indecision over FFP in the Summer led to us not improving the side.

3: What are your thoughts on the strength of the league as a whole this year?

Poor. Arsenal and Chelsea out of the title race before the clocks went back in October, Everton far better team than Newcastle haven't threatened for a Champions League place. As a City fan I always looked for 25 points by New Year to be safe from Relegation; Liverpool didn't have that and now may finish top six and they are really poor.

4: Regarding Everton, are you expecting another competetive game on Saturday?

As always - I am expecting City to get twatted.

5: Do you have an opinion on Moyes and his contract situation?

I dont think he is as good as what people say. If he tries his luck in Germany then fair play, but I have often said on here that for his remaining career pick two out of three; Newcastle,Celtic,Scotland - I feel thats his limit.

Every player the Everton squad is "classy", love Osman,Mirales,Baines,Pineaar etc but I cant see one that would make City better. Fellaini especially.

No, they fucked it up last year and although its unlikely and I don't expect us to win it, I'm still hoping they fuck it up again.

I think we should have invested in a 'Plan B' and not just buy Sinclair. Sometimes if we struggle to score we run out of ideas and we havent wanted it as much.

Not as strong as it has been, but the rag lot are doing much better as are Spurs as a whole.

Yes

5: Do you have an opinion on Moyes and his contract situation?
He should sign, I personally don't think he'd cut the mustard at a 'bigger' club. Loyalty is a commodity in football these days and it works both ways, so it'd be wise to sign, he won't take Everton to the 'next level' without investment and I don't think anyone else would.

6: Will you be courting any of our players come summer?
I like Baines, but I like Clichy and Kolarov has been much improved.

7: Saturdays scoreline?
2-1 City, I feel more confident about going to Goodison than when we lost there last season.

1. Yes. But big hopes for the FA Cup again this year!
2. Weakened rather than strengthened the playing staff, experimented early season with different defensive formations, strikers collectively and individually bang out of form and to be fair the rags have picked up the gauntlet and got the results when they needed to.
3. Definitely weaker and getting progressively getting worse.
4. Of course. And Pienaar will have his 2nd best game of the season again.
5. I hope he stays. He's done a great job and I can't see him achieving the same elsewhere.
6. I can't see it myself although I think a few may move on (eg Fellaini, Baines)
7. 0-0

The game is on ESPN here in the States -- City games are shown just about every week. Unfortunately, the kick off is at 8:30 a.m. Will barely have time to get my morning coffee before the game starts.

Stil a slim hope but will need the wobblers to continue wobbling
We will have to win almost every remaining fixture

Not taking chances, whether that is due to clinical finishing from strikers or luck/ better defending.
For example QPR battered them but couldn't score
Also too many draws and silly slip ups

3: What are your thoughts on the strength of the league as a whole this year?

Strong league and very competitive for top 4
Hope one of the Liverpool clubs gets 4th spot

Yes always is with Everton, think we will come through the battle as you have a few key players missing in jagielka and Howard

I'm not a fan but could see why he may want to test himself elsewhere if the right job offer came, hope he goes to the rags

Fellini is a player I would love to see playing at city, a midfield of him and YaYa would be crazy

Biggest game of the season so far?

Can't think of a more important league game so far this season, I know people will say the home derby but for me this is the biggest game of the season so far today.

We have to win, anything but and they win and it's over.
