Trick to beating Everton is keeping their left side very quite. Their main attacking outlets are Baines and Pienaar. Mancini should set up with Milner and Zaba on the right hand side and they should in theory be able to negate Evertons attack.

Other than that it's just Fellaini to worry about. Barry or Garcia need to man mark him throughout and be a bit rough. The lad looks like he's in self preservation before a summer move.

Everton will look to park the bus so we must set up with some width whilst also focusing on their strong left side.

My team all being well.

Ha ha, you're becoming the bluemoon court jester!!!

That formation would be suicide, the silva positioning alone would see a spanking, and your reasoning behind kolorov??? Garcia will be integral on Saturday, he's actually more than capable of keeping microphone head quiet!!!

Kolarov provides us with width and a great delivery, ideally you'd have Dzeko starting to make the most of deliveries but Tevez is on fire so gets the start. We also have no width as you bloody well know so he's the best of a bad bunch unless Sinclair changes matter.

Garcia would be good aginst Fellaini in set pieces but he's too slow to deal with direct and at you play. I trust Barry to deal with him.

Silva plays best when playing through the middle. He's wasted on the left. His defensive work is good too, he tracks, challenges and would be pivotal in controlling the game with Yaya. Yaya would play deeper and Silva would work just inside the hole. Just like Nasri the best you get out of Silva is through the middle.

Looking back to Everton games we always struggle with width because we play too narrow, we need to open up the field and keep their left side quite.

Please tell me what you'd do better Zin, I look forward to your response. Based on us being pathetic v Everton in recent times a change is needed.

The pace element you allude to with garcia won't be an issue, it's the ball retention from fellani and the ball into the hole which predominantly starts there atttacks, Garcia is the physical specimen we need aerially to rough up side show bob, or at least upset the flow - agree about width but aerially everton are strong at the back, they struggle with those who play on the shoulder, Aguero would of been perfect here but as you said tevez is on fire and i fully expect the team above to win, IMO that will be the team!!!!!

For some reason we never play well at Everton. It is time now to put a stop to this. If we don't pick up 3 pts this Saturday we might as well give them the title right now. We also need to start scoring more than 1 or 2 goals a game in the league, and start to claw back some of the goal difference on the rags.

As we now know the date for the FA Cup Replay i suspect that the Sat. before the replay SAF might play a weakened team that day.

I agree this is a real acid test as to whether we have turned a corner. Hopefully we put this hoodoo of a team to bed once and for all, having said that it will be no doubt 1-0 to them......Come on City

everything you say is spot on it's just a little bit of a worry that a similar side to the one you have down (just with rodwell in for barry) struggled to get going against villa and conceded the ball regularly. we didn't get reallty going until dzeko came on. we also faced a lot of crosses in that game, something a side like everton woudl relish.

Haha some jester I am, you only have Garcia on instead of Kolarov so not much of a change.

Width isn't always about high crosses, it's about fast and low balls into the box. Tevez interchanges neatly with Silva and Yaya would be the battering ram box to box player. This game is where Yaya needs to be at his 100%, no half hearted performance wanted, we need him to work hard and press. Everton will camp out in their own half and we must get as many balls out wide and deliver low and hard into the box. They will make 2 banks of 4 and will leave no gaps, we have to stretch them to make gaps.

Garcia is too ponderous for me to have confidence in him v Fellaini. Yaya and Barry is more than enough imo. Mancini will most likely have 2 holding mids but that means we most likely will be dragged narrow.

No matter the formation the key to this game is negating their attacking output, key their left flank quiet and it should be a win. It's a win Mancini needs because Everton is a boogey team.

This is where you let yourself down Nip, team sheet wasn't the issue, formation was the issue and one you got drastically wrong - having yaya next to barry would hamper us drastically, hence Garcia will play there to sit on fellani, it doesn't matter how many times you question his mobility, the idea is to stop said player getting it down and playing, that is done through upsetting the guys rhythm - we have more then enough work rate down our right hand side with zab and milner, yaya will dominate neville et al, it's silva who needs a massive game here, if he comes through the early kicking he notoriously gets off these twats we'll win!!!!

To add, the low crosses would need numbers in the box, sadly we don't get them in there, hence the lack of opportunities we create from out wide, we work the ball if you haven't noticed, and like i said, Everton would take your game plan all day long right now, running at there central pair=success rate!!!!

Where's everyone drinking then? We were just planning on the weatherspoons across the road from the train station but need a back up incase that isn't open/ home fans are there in abundance.

Strangely confident about this one...

Everton are in turmoil... We need to go with the right attitude and I can see two nil City...

Seems like there will be a lot of blues going there including me so I think that would be the best bet. Can't wait for this.

Re: Everton Vs City Pre Match Discussion Thread

In terms of formation, I think pushing Yaya up would work.

Like this:

-----------Hart----------
--Zaba---Kolo---Nastasic----Clichy
-----Garcia----------Barry-------
--Milner------Yaya--------Silva---
------------Tevez----------------

This exactly. That's the team to win this game.
