Everton (FA Cup) Post Match Thread

I also don't think we have a best team anymore, we have a great squad full of talent and you could pick 10 out of hat and a keeper and just say go and play lads because positions mean nothing to us such is the fluidity of how we play. How many times this season will you see attacking CBs getting in the box during open play and hitting the bar. Big Sam would be having kittens if his CHs did that. Ours though all step into midfield with the ball, because they are all great footballers.
I don't believe you could pick 10 out of a hat. For me there is a core 16 and then the others 6 or so, all good players but because of fitness, form or not being ideally suited to the way we play would impact on performance of the team if starting. (think the first half performance against Fulham)

In the first category:
Eddie, Cancelo, Zinchenko, Stones, Dias, Rodri, Gundo, Bernie, Phil, Kev, Mahrez (which is my favoured starting 11)
Steffen, Walker, Laporte, Fern, Gabby (all of whom could start without any discernible adverse impact).

In the second:
Sterling, Kun, Torres, Mendy, Garcia, Ake

At long last it’s great to see Zinny getting the praise he deserves. For me he is always plays in our best starting line up. He’s so underrated and yet he just keeps us ticking over and moves the ball so well.
For some reason commentators never mention his fee either. Value for money wise has to be one of our best signings of recent times, also says a lot for him that he stayed to challenge and earn his place instead of moving on when he could have.

A first class performance of patience, quality, and single-mindedness. We are so good that we don't realise how good we are at times. Everton, set up like that, with that mentality, will beat most teams in the league.

Ferna by being used sparingly is having big impacts on games which is good to see. Foden was absolutely class again. Think Raz was better than before his fall out with Pep even without the finish he was desperate for. Oh and Laporte is well and truly back. That CB rotation issue going to be a headache for Pep in terms of who gets the CL games.

If I had to pick a MOTM I'd give it to Ferna.

Oh and Kev is well and truly back. Never doubt the king.

Nice to see John Stones getting a well deserved rest before his upcoming Euro masterclass. Laporte will be resting for two weeks. Would have liked Mendy to have replaced Zinchenko after an hour for the same reason.

That was the last away game we HAD to win. Put ourselves in an incredible position and who knows what will happen in next 2 months but I’ve never been as confident in our defence to see us through difficult situations.

Me too. I’d rest your entire first eleven v Leicester and play all of the others.
