Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

That's just nonsense. There is enough in the pot already to finance a rebuild and any CL deficit next year, if it happens which I don't think it will, will be largely compensated by the CWC income. There is no financial problem financing a rebuild, although no CL may affect the quality of players the club can attract.
"although no CL may affect the quality of players the club can attract." That's going to be our biggest problem. Therefore we must get top 4. Not impossible because Liverpool aside, teams are dropping points like we are. Arsenal couldn't even score against Everton, and Chelsea lost to Fulham. So we gained a point on Chelsea. So, spend big on the right players in January - get top 4 - and get the real quality we need in the summer. Forget the CL/FA Cup for now. We'll not win either but top 4 can still be achieved.

some positive is that the goal we conceded was largely just luck and a tremendous finish and we didn't give away chances other than that really, but it is fucking everton..

Oh just fuck off. Rico Lewis was ok today and he just seems to get the blame no matter what.

Every single post that name checks Rico, a 20 year old kid, ignores every other completely shit player to push your weird fucking agenda.

Gvardiol was by some distance the worst player on the pitch along with haaland, but yeah, let's just slag off Lewis. It's either clueless or you just want to blame a player rather than the ineptitude of gvardiol, savinho's lack of end product, or haalands complete lack of interest.

Maybe it's watching the game at home but in the ground it was terrifyingly obvious haaland can't be fucked and gvardiol can't place a pass and is never in position.
Rico was arguably our most consistent player in the first months of the season but his form has gone.

As a youngster in footballing terms he needs taking out of the side to recover and get his mojo back but that's not happening for many reasons at the moment.

There's a very good player inside him but his time in the pitch needs managing.

This is the beginning of a 20 game unbeaten run. I know it doesn't look like much, but so does a steak start.

Humble beginnings... Fellow Cityzens don't fret, our run is on the horizon. Be full of belief! We can do this.
Dax mate I predict your prophecy of a 20 game unbeaten run will be over before we’ve finished the next 5 games.

Nonsense how? The Champions League is the golden goose competition in terms of revenue. Not qualifying this season would undoubtedly have a knock on effect on revenue and what we can spend down the line. The rebuild isn't going to be complete in one summer window - there's potentially 6/7 players we need to replace as well as adding more depth to the squad. I'm also not sure how you're privy to know whats in 'the pot'.

Granted we're not winning the title but I think it's a tad premature to talk about missing out on the CL Places.

Well pep must have watched a completely different game to me, if he thinks we played "really good", then we are in bigger shit than we thought, there is just nothing there anymore, we don't look like scoring, we don't create many chances, no little 1-2s, no give and go's, thought Everton were very comfortable yesterday

What he said to the press and what he really thought are likely to be two different things.

The problem isn't Pep and it isn't the players, there is an intangible that isn't there. I'm not one to believe in bullshit but this almost seems like a bad mojo/juju situation. If I'm Pep I'm bringing in an exorcist and getting rid of whatever evil spirit has invaded the Etihad.
We were five minutes away from getting rid of an evil spirit a few weeks ago but we collapsed and gave it three points.

There are zero signs whatsoever that this team is capable of getting anywhere near the top 4.
As things stand we have to make up five points on Arsenal; plus whatever they get v Ipswich tonight, or six points on Forest if Arsenal win. That's over 20 games so is far from impossible, but has anybody seen anything over the past thirteen games that suggests we can do it? Earlier in the season we were winning but were far from convincing.
We have the manager to do it, but I'm not sure the players can deliver.

The Maine Road witches curse has followed us. The curse resides in the medical dept.

The CWC income has been known about for a while and probably already earmarked for strengthening the squad. Progress in the CL was probably also expected.
