Cant wait for this one.

This season is genuinely exciting. Nobody (media) excepts nothing from us.

I actually enjoy going into each game not knowing what to expect. The talent is there but there isnt necessarily the experience or expectations. If we drew to Everton in a couple of weeks a couple of years ago then it would have been a disaster. If we draw now then its almost accepted with our inconsistency.

I would be shocked if Arsenal don't win the league. But if we get to Feb/ March and we're still in a title conversation then I'll be delighted.

A realistic year would be

An fa or carabao cup win
2/3rd league
Semi final of CL

I agree - I'm not going into every game thinking "How many are we going to score?" but more "I hope we score!"

In the last few years a 1-0 win v Brentford would have made me think "Only 1-0?" - Sunday afternoon I was buzzing with a hard fought 1-0 win.

Fun as it was when we were running away with the league every year, it does make it more exciting when we aren't head and shoulders above absolutely everyone.

I still think we will win the league this year though.

We won the league many a year, but we certainly did run away with it. Most of our triumphs have been nail biters!
If we win it this year it will be the same story.

I think it's going to be very hard to stop Arsenal. They could easily get over 90 points. They are almost the finished side, the only missing piece is the experience of winning a title and the self-confidence that comes with that. To put self-doubt into them, we have to push them hard. That means we need to improve still further. We know there is more improvement in this City squad. Marmoush, Cherki, Khusanov will be available soon. Rodri and Bobb are recovering after long injuries. Reijnders is just settling in, and in moments he has shown great ability. This City squad does have a lot of potential and I feel sure we are going to get better, but we will need to do so to challenge Arsenal.

We need to watch out for Alcaraz. I watched Everton v Palace before our game and Palace were in control until Alcaraz came on. He is an attacking midfielder and his fast runs from midfield helped to change the game. I can see him starting in place of Grealish.

Everton are such a pain to play against. They've only conceded 16 shots on target all season – and that’s second best in the league, just behind Palace.

Like wtf are they doing back there? I don’t even watch them, so I can’t tell if they’re defending like prime Atletico or if teams just forget how to shoot when they play them

Meanwhile Spurs, who are actually playing decent ball and are flying up the table, have already faced 29 shots on target. Mad stat when you think about it.
Your stats were distorted because 10 of the teams had played one game less, the stats must have been recorded before last Sundays 5 PL games. I have inserted the revised table after those fixtures, sorted again by shots on target. Everton move up the table equal with us.

It's remains true that Everton deny shots on target more than many other PL teams. ;-)

These are a solid side, good creatively but lacking in that goal scorer up top.

Is Dewsbury still banned? Without him and Grealish they shouldn’t have enough going forward to cause enough mither.

1-0 us.

When did we run away with the league every year? It was nearly always tight, and often coming from behind (oooh er missus?

Nope one match ban for 5 yellows, he will be back for us

I didn't literally mean we ran away with it every year - I meant every year that we ran away with it was a bit boring!

He is amazing. Fans love him and he seems to like us. Top player, and his ability is lifting a few other players in the team. He looks happy, and that can only be a good thing for us.

Thanks for the Borrow. Can we keep him please?

Just to add. My boy is autistic. I am already hearing from local disability groups that Jack has shown an interest to help. One has already mentioned a very nice donation. So top lad, good on him.
He’s a superb player and geezer, mate.

I genuinely despair of the anti Jack brigade on here.

What a good and fair poster you are. I think you typify an improved relationship between City and Everton, a key commonality being largely out of town red twats in our footballing cities, the rags and the shite. I’ve said on here before I was in the Taxi drivers social club near Goodison before the game last season with my teenage sons, as far as I could tell we were the only City fans in there. We got chatting with a group of 6 or 7 Everton fans in there (all in the 40 to 60 range) and they were great - and they all had the same view, said they begrudgingly liked City (a) because of the beautiful football we play and (b) because of the titles we’d stopped “the red shite” winning. Everton has been like that for a long time. Now 1981, that was a different matter, but that’s one for the football hooligan thread!

Hope so. Thank fuck their best player can’t play. Love Pep more than any other manager we have ever had, but he has missed a trick with Jack. Or maybe Jack’s style just didn’t fit with ours

In that treble winning season Jack was one of our 3 best players, IMO.

Just seemed to fizzle out for a couple of years after that. Must have been the hangover from his summer of celebrating!

I live and work amongst scousers. The difference between Everton and Liverpool fans is that stark I can tell them apart just by looking at them.
