Everton Post Match Thread

Aguero should be trying to get in front of the defenders most times when the ball goes wide imo. Attacking the near post, centre. Too often he is behind the defender & impossible to pass to. If ye is going to do that, we need a new Negredo type cf to aim at.

Then again it's all academic if Pep is coming as it will be different again then.

The thing with Aguero coming short is linking the play. But he's not actually linking anything because he's the sole striker and we don't have midfielders who will run past him to give him the link he was looking for in the first place. So it goes to the flanks and Navas can't cross to save his life. And even if he could, the target that should be Aguero isn't in the box because he's the one who's just give Navas the ball. So then your looking for your midfielders to be breaking in between the CBs but they go missing. So the ball has to go backwards whether that be from Navas Sterling or whoever, to Yaya who is generally to deep. Again, rinse and repeat.

Anyway I'm getting technical now and I'm pissed so think I'll call it a night.

I know what I mean though.

That's because Aguero is coming short for the ball. When it reaches the flanks he's having to bust a gut to get in the box and we just don't have the mobility in the middle of the park to support the attack. How many of our CM players have scored this season?

We are dysfunctional as a unit right now and I don't see a way out. We are just not playing well enough.
Because the players are not being permitted to play, they are not playing well.

Aye, you're right = by the strict laws of the game it was a foul therefore a pen., but there's the spirit of the game too and because he went looking for it I'm not sorry it wasn't given. Excuse me for being so Corinthian, there's still a few of us left.

Genuinely intrigued as to which bit of this you think he "went looking for it":

Everton were sitting in a double decker, boring football, but no big surprise. We mostly didn't manage to confuse a well organized team.

Well, we still have the chance to do better in 2 weeks. What did we learn today (again)?

We need more pace to open spaces between the defence lines.
We need vertical passes into the free spaces.
We need more movement into free spaces.
The wingers need to use their speed and put more pressure on the full back to get behind the defence line. There must be more risk for the opponent full back to stop the winger only by a foul.
We need more players to get into the box.

KDB looks a bit lost and unconnected. I suppose he would like to play much more powerful at a higher pace but the rest of the team is just slowing down too often, stopping and playing backwards. We need much more variation and surprise elements. We have got the right players. So come on!

Ah and thanks Allen, you fookin scouse. At least one nice moment tonight. :)

We need a natural left sided winger not an imitation one.

If thats not a penalty then I'm going to call time watching this sport.

Water isn't wet is it?

How obvious does it have to be?

what a pathetic attempt to provide spurious justification for a decision that you are simply glad the referee got wrong.

If you were truly Corinthian you would have abhorred Everton's cynical fouls outside the penalty area and their blatant time wasting. Do quote the post where you did if I've missed it.

But you aren't a true Corinthian, you are as partisan as the rest of us but try to pretend otherwise. As you may have guessed, I am not impressed.

Very altruistic of you, but that's nonsense. It was as clear a penalty as you could wish to see. Spirit of the game?! Come on...
Well it was still around when I played on Deans Fields back in the olden olden times. Probably died when community singing at the Cup Final did, not many miss that either.

What are you lot moaning about ?
grind you down.
I enjoyed my evenings entertainment !

I sat in my car for over two hours trying to get there. Then it took ages to park. Then I got pissed wet through walking to the ground. Then I walked into a puddle that was about 3 feet fucking deep that I didn't even see. Then I got into the ground with 28 minutes gone and climbed the three million fucking stairs to get to my affordable new seat in South level three stand with my amazing view from the fucking moon freezing my tits off pissed wet through. To then be bored fucking senseless with this side to side passing shite whilst sitting next to thousands of Scousers with two songs, Everton Everton Everfuckington and the other one telling me that my City was full of shit and more shit. 0-0, another cheating fucking ref.

Back out more fucking rain, more traffic.

Just got in, feet freezing and going to bed.

You can't beat going to the game
Good Lad, don't let the bastards

I'd be inclined to agree with you if I was a brainless cock.

...I'm not - so I won't.

You can bet if that was Sterling in Liverpool red at the Kop end in exactly the same circumstances that same shitehouse ref would have almost choked ramming the whistle into his cheating gob to award a penalty!

I thought we were very good tonight specially 2 2nd half /unlucky not to score and 2 non dodgy penalty decisions went against us,how come the ground looked half empty ?

Horrendous traffic problems on M62(all afternoon near junc. 18 &19) , M6002 - road works on Regent road where M6002 comes into Salford , 300 jobs on offer at Manchester Airport - Job Fair - affected M56 and traffic round Wilslow.
Some people gave up , turned round and went home.

Back to the match - nailed on penalty for Sterling.
