I think Vinny's performance at Liverpool showed that playing half fit defenders isn't a great idea.

I remember Everton playing Tony fecking Hibbert at centre back the other year, all 5ft 9' of him and never gave Dzeko a header, losing 1-0.

Hibbert is an Evertonian through and through, I would like to see him play this weekend!

Tolm any word on Spanish Dave? Is he likely to start on Saturday

It will be left up to Dave, as it generally is.

I do expect us to take the gamble to start with him and then hopefully still have him fit enough on the bench for Villa, should we need him.

And then start against West Ham.

Good news as long as he doesn't aggravate it, cheers Tolmie.

It's mathematically possible for them to get 4th place, if we underestimate that then we will lose the game.

All this shit of them sat there eating there sandwiches in the centre circle at kick off is bollocks, it may hurt the fans for LFC to win it but Kenwright and Martinez certainly won't give a shit if fourth place is achievable, they will be revved up mark my words.

Cheers Tolmie. Just don't want him starting in a '4-4-2' where he needs to spend time chasing coleman back.

If he is going to start I think we should look at taking Dzeko out and playing Dave behind Sergio.

Anyone else feeling nervous already?

This game is a potential week ruiner if we don't win.

A nice rendition of your gonna lose the league would be great about 1 minute before kick off may get evertons fans joining in it could get to the players if there is a reaction from them be great if 35000 sing along

Reasons to be pessimistic ahead of Saturday:
Our record at Goodison.
Martinez did a job on us in the Cup Final last year.
Baines, Jagielka will probably play and Distin may play.
They are a better side than under Moyes.
Wouldn't be the first time a team did a favour for a hated rival (see City v Leeds 1992, Blackburn v City 1995)

Reasons to be optimistic ahead of Saturday:
We looked focused and controlled on Sunday, a flashback to the run in two years ago.
Aguero looked sharper.
Yaya is back.
Silva may be back.
Martinez team play football and tend to be less industrial than Moyes' team which should mean a bit more space for our midfield and forwards.
The cup final atmosphere they usually generate may be a little muted as they probably won't have as much to play for and the crowd will be wary of doing Liverpool a favour.
They have looked leggy in recent games.
We've won this type of match before (Newcastle away 2011/12).

I'd play aguero yaya silva behind dzeko with garcia and silva giving us a solid base just behind. Hart zabba vk mdm and clichy at the back think we'll need kolarov and nasri to help us break down villa and west ham.
