I'd agree re the championship for the laughs and experience but I reckon if we got relegated we'd stay there for a few seasons or more. Most of the current squad would leave for certain, and under the current outlook it's hard to see a player wanting to go to goodison to further their career
So your left with the deadwood and mercenaries who will bleed the club on decent wages and contracts. Hard to see any reconciliation between board and fans currently if at all. Something has to give and these are dark days ahead.
If I was Everton, I'd take a gamble now by sacking Lampard and replacing him with Vincent Kompany. I think Kompany would give you more than a chance of staying up, but if you didn't, he'd have had time to look at things and prepare you for an instant return to the PL. He has implemented a completely new style at Burnley but is still making a mockery of the division.

Yep - spending money is only half the battle. It's how well you spend it as well. We've seen this with United over the best part of the last decade and we've seen it with Everton over the past 5 or 6 years.

To be fair, some of Everton's managerial appointments and player signings didn't look too bad at the time but for whatever reason nothing seems to have worked out. I'd also say that they were unlucky with Ancelotti - he was the one who finally seemed to have them going places and if he hadn't gone back to Real Madrid, I reckon they'd be in a much better position now.

Usmanov being sanctioned has obviously added a huge amount to their problems and at this point you have to wonder whether relegation might be the best thing for them so they can start afresh. Their fans might not see it that way but I'll guarantee they'll have a better laugh following Everton in the Championship for a season or two.
All what u say is bob on, i think ultimately when things repeatedly go wrong, in any industry or sport, you ultimately have to look at the top man. Kenwright.

I know swales going didnt immediately settle the ship and its arguable that franny lee wasnt much better (although i just dont think he knew the utter shit show he was taking on) , but one things for sure, swales had to go to so we could even start to think things could improve

I think youre selling your self short. For A LOT of players , joining everton , even in the chanpionship would be huge for them. Youre a big club, soon to have a shiny new stadium. Lots of players would be happy to join.

But not under the current leadership

I've never been a lover of Everton, in fact, I hated them when Kendall fucked off back to them and stated that City was a love affair and Everton was his marriage/true love. Anyway, I soon stopped hating, especially when they did the rags in the 95 Cup final. In recent years I've totally mellowed towards them(I think that's mirrored my hatred for the rats) There are some proper decent Evertonions who post on here(a stark contrast to the Red shite wankers) and I'd be made up for them if they do turn it around.

Sad as it is I doubt he'd leave Burnley for us under the current regime. There's a lot more to come out about them, lots of things don't add up and they can only contain the positivity in the media for so long

Agree.. now once at your new stadium everything settled down and offering Kompany the job with full control to sell players and bring in his players he would jump at that job!

He's a good young manager which is what we should be looking at. I think our owners got complacent as they thought two years away and a new stadium - no concerns. But once again they messed up and already there is talk of it costing £200 million plus more than they originally claimed
I know of young lads who hate the matchday experience now and they're the ones who are most vociferous currently. I saw our best days in the 80s and you wonder if they will ever return. It's not just about money, it's using and spending it wisely. Our player recruitment is shocking, on Saturday we were losing to Southampton and we had our £72 million summer signings sat on the bench !
Football goes round in cycles anyway and we have no divine right to anything, but we are not even competing now.

I watched the game and once again Simms came on as a substitute.
He was on loan at Hearts last season and did brilliantly there as a centre forward.
Not once though did I think he will play regular football for Everton.
Hope he proves me wrong but I just cannot see it.

This is the problem with relegation - you just don't know. I was convinced that Vinnie was on a hiding to nothing at Burnley and they're probably odds on to go up. When City got relegated in the 90's we spent 4 years outside the top flight.
Everton in the Championship will be everybody's big scalp. It would not be easy.

Good on him here. Few more need to do the same. Showing Kenwright as the source of all the lies too
