Everton Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

Everton fans frequently throw in the 'history' card.

But despite being told they have a rich and glorious past and we've "got no history", it actually turns out that if you look at the 3 traditional english trophies and chuck in europe, they are trouncing us 15-11

Even better if you only look at the years since the second world war it's 8 each

A trophy is a trophy at the end of the day (and not to be sniffed at), but you can't seriously put winning the league cup on a par with winning the league. Winning the league is a far more prestigious trophy.

Glasgow Rangers think they are the most successful club in the world through using this tally-chart logic.

I think if we could win the FA Cup , and finish 2nd in the league this season , few people could argue that it hadn't been a 'reasonably' successful campaign ..... not the campaign we would have wanted at the outset of the season obviously , but a reasonably successful campaign nonetheless.

Many clubs , including the likes of Everton , would jump at the chance of finishing a season like that.

and probably 2nd place.

Yep , i agree ....

Chelsea now only four points behind us , too close for comfort .... and a very difficult semi-final to negotiate too , no matter which club we play !

That's the whole conundrum to me.
As it it stands , I do not see the desire in those players to win anything this season.

Hope they change .

The team need to remember what won them the league. That is hard work, digging in for one another, not waiting for things to happen but MAKING them happen and not hoping a bit of skill or magic from one of our key players to bail them out.

The management need to stop tinkering with the line up's and formations and injuries aside pick our best eleven EVERY game,we are only really playing one game a week now after all.

A few players are sulking and feeling sorry for themselves, they need to man the fuck up,be professional and play themselves out of it!

The dust has settled and the performance was not as bad as many on here have painted.
We were without the spine of the team and was beaten by a one off wonder goal.
Judgement should be at the end of the season, not while we are still fighting on two fronts.

I agree. There were enough chances created for us to have gotten something from that game. Missing Yaya, Vinny and Sergio is a big hole regardless of the squad.
Up to this game I thought we were building a head of steam and I still think Utd will drop points. 15 is a big ask but we have to go out and start again and win the next game. One game at a time. It's a very unlikely scenario but not yet impossible.

Yes it was,we looked clueless and toothless and couldnt even capitalise on the advantage we were given.

Mancini's tactics were bizarre,he had no answers to a familiar problem......

Yes we missed our key men, however,we have spent hundreds of millions to ensure our squad should be able to cope with such a scenario, the problem is,it obviously can't.

Beaten by a wonder goal?? we lost 2 nil and were lucky to do so.

Everton were also without their first choice keeper and centre half........

We are in the hunt for only one trophy,we have failed to put up any sort of fight in the other three.
