Everton F.C. 2014/15 Division One Playoffs Wembley

Looking forward to that one.

Taken from Everton's official site:

“Crest designs everywhere are really being stripped back, making them cleaner and focusing on the core elements in order to emphasise key, historical elements. As a result, we have seen some of Europe’s biggest clubs introduce crests that are more modern, iconic and bold.”

Our diagram shows how Chelsea, Juventus, Inter Milan and Real Madrid have developed simplified designs yet retained core, traditional elements. These new crests have become instantly recognisable and work effectively across different media and different territories.

The initial stage of the re-design process began in Autumn 2012 when our in-house creative team began discussions with Evertonians about the existing Crest. Our team listened to opinions on what the Crest represented, ...

As well as the Everton fan-base, key commercial partners such as Kitbag and Nike were also consulted and their input and ideas were fed into the design process. Of course, Nike’s brand pedigree is unrivalled and their contribution was invaluable.

The bits I have highlighted in bold are, to me, all that is wrong with football, and I translate the last sentence as meaning Nike had the first and final say.

Bloody hell, how depressed would you be as an Evertonian reading that. It's like the kind of nonsense old City would have come out with - reminds me a bit of the piped chanting Pearce introduced

Dark future for Everton I suspect

I wonder who from their fan-base have they consulted with, as I haven't seen a single Everton fan that likes that badge lol! Guess they will have to get used to it as it won't be going away.
