Every premier league game this weekend to play French national anthem

Way over the top.

Did everyone play our stuff in 2005?

We are sadly moving towards a world where there will be a minutes applause on every other minute of the game, a minutes silence before every game and a race to show how sad we at every act.

The England game showed solidarity with France, this idea is just fucking ridiculous.

Hear hear

Way too much.
Why does football have to get involved with every world tragedy?
That daft rag off sky news, Eamonn Holmes, surprisingly was bang on this morning saying that it isn’t footballs responsibility and it’s like going to a funeral every week attending a football match. Every week there is an applause or a silence.
It’s ridiculous.

On the one hand I think we're starting to approach overkill when it comes showing our respects at games. I can't remember another period in all the time I've been going to games where so many are marked with some kind of memorial, be it minutes applause, minutes silence and now National anthems.

On the other hand i'm happy to take part, it hardly takes much effort to show my respects and if it brings a crumb of comfort to those directly involved when hearing/seeing it then it can only be a positive thing.

I think that's known as 'sitting on the fence'...
I'm sorry but if my Mrs had been killed at a gig, PSG vs Monaco playing our national anthem wouldn't bring any crumb of comfort.

Football paid its respects on Tuesday that was fitting to do it again is just giving the terrorists another indirect mention

Me neither mate, I suppose I'm looking at it at the showing solidarity side of things.
I take your point though.

La Marseillaise to be played before Premier League games
The French national anthem - La Marseillaise - will be played before this weekend's Premier League matches.

A choral version will be played after the coin toss, with players from both teams coming together with match officials in the centre circle.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore described it as an act of "solidarity and remembrance" after the Paris attacks in which 129 people died.

La Marseillaise was sung before England's win over France on Tuesday.

There are 72 French players currently in the Premier League.

"Given how close we are, as well as the long-standing relationship that exists between the Premier League and France, playing La Marseillaise as an act of solidarity and remembrance is the right thing to do," said Scudamore.

Chelsea have announced their players will wear black armbands incorporating the French flag during their home game with Norwich City on Saturday (15:00 BST).

The Premier League has briefed each club on the current threat alert, which remains unchanged.
