If serious sexual assault has been committed then the perpetrator deserves s fair trial and the full force of the law and a very long sentence as any member of the public would expect to get whether they are blue, rag or scouse. Again, I am in no way suggesting that anyone is guilty of anything, I just find the original reasoning of 'someone has been questioned about a very serious issue - that's a reason to single them out for special praise' a bit perverse. But I am definitely at the front of the queue regarding 'innocent until proven guilty'.

However, that was a silly aside, and what I was really interested in was the fact that it's hard to ignore he's been singled out in the media and that this must affect our support, positively or negatively. At this time, for me, it's positive.

and you are right, he has received quite a lot of negative press coverage despite being, in my eyes, one of the leagues best performers this season so far.

One (unrelated) thing that's got to me is Lawro and Birtles and other commentators saying "he hasn't pulled up trees in the Prem so far"....errr...don't 11 or 12 goals count, then? Some of them just brilliant? Or being a fantastic outlet for a defence under pressure? When they don't just lump it forward, that is!

I will be giving my support to both our attackers, Bellamy and Robinho. I think Bellamy will need to know that we support him and want him to do well for the team, irrelevant of past controversies. He's a blue now and I'll be behind him. Robinho? No explanation required. The lad is pure class, and once this has all blown over, he'll concentrate on becoming the best in the business once again.
