Am I missing the point here?
Hendersmug is employed by the Telegraph to do what all the other journalists employed by the Telegraph are employed to do...... get people to read their paper, or get people to log onto their website. In the latter case the success of which is judged by how many hits they get on said website or how many comments they get.
This might be a naiive viewpoint but I don't really think they give a stuff what comments they get back....as long as people are actually commenting. Thus, all we are doing by commenting is making them look better and 'increasing' their figures, making them look more 'successful' (probably the wrong word but you catch my drift?).
An article like this is just like Adrian Durham or John Gaunt opening his mouth on the radio, they say something provocative so people ring in thus increasing their ratings, thus making them look 'cool' and popular.
I know it's a crock, I know it's inflammatory but we're just falling for it by biting back. We're better than that, surely?
As for the PCC what are they going to do? Lambast the newspaper for printing somebody's opinion. He's not printed anything libellous has he?

There is a hell of a lot more of this to come and we need to get wise now. We used to have a well-worn phrase on here 'Don't be a bum, ignore the scum!' Let's practice what we preach. Don't bite.
I know it's riling but the only thing we achieve by slinging venom back is making people like this tit content that he has succeeded in winding us up and ultimately making us look touchy, oversensitive and whingey...............exactly the sort of thing we've criticised the big four for all these years.
Please. Wise up now. Don't post just because THEY want you to. Ignore them. In a few years they'll be crawling all over us.
