really ever believe thy could rule Europe? and more importantly did the manager?

Our strongest 11 over the last 5 or so years all fit and firing would have had a chance, but they're all at different stages in their careers and half of them are finished unfortunately .
The spine will look very different soon-the old guard need replacing unfortunate as it is.

Gonna take us at least 3yrs to get to anywhere near ruling europe, & will pep still be in charge by then? fuckin disgusted by our surrender tonight, peps got one hell ov a job on his hands

Peps effectively starting from scratch, not that i'm concerned about it yet but if things go well (which i'm sure they will) I can see him sticking around a bit longer.

The buzzword from the last few games is belief or lack of it. We need a bit of god luck from the footballing Gods to get us a win v Arsenal. Football can change very quickly, but I am not hopeful. You would have to be an idiot to be so having seen the last 2 games.

I am left with real empty feeling after tonight.Did Real deserve to win over the two legs, probably just but it was manner of the defeat the grates on me.The lack of fight and the fact we seemed resigned to our fate after VK went off is what disappoints me. I think our approach and our lack of desire reflects our manager over the last two seasons. We got close but when we really needed the manager to show his quality it wasn't there. This will hurt more over the next few weeks as we all realise how close we actually came to winning the CL.

Not with the way we have been playing. You're right we and a lot of the players are going to be looking back on this game for years to come thinking If only. They might say they gave it their all. I don't think we did. We worked hard closing down and we were well organised, but mentally we were afraid to take risks. Comes from the manager, and the players belief in their manager. Evidently what trust was there has evaporated

Guys, with the right purchases this summer, we'll be right there with the best in Europe next year. Things are not as bad as we mAy think. Defenders are jelling well in Europe need to bring that level to the premier league.
If anything, I think we need to find replacement for Yaya, Silva and Vincent . Also need another world class striker. If we scout properly we don't have to break the bank to get them. We need creative, reliable hard working players. That is what was missing today, I believe.

Yaya is done, Vincent has maxed out, silva is slowing down.

He won introducing a creative style of play to a group of men that had been drilled to be organized and defensively sound for the past 3 years. Time showed that he couldn't keep that organization that Mancini instilled, and every season, we saw it kind of slip away.

I can't believe they took any notice of MP anyway, why would you in a one off game if your protesting? This was for personal glory, ambition, the feeling of achievement. Most of them will never get this far again in club football and it was noticeable how morally bereft they were in the main.

reading the numerous threads on here today I'm getting the impression that we will have a WHOLE NEW SQUAD next season under Pep.

Supposedly all the players are wank awful and should all be shipped out - even those that have been supposedly 'untouchable' or previously described as 'world class'.

In reality only a few will depart and fingers crossed it will be those that really are "past it" or "don't suit our style" or "who never contribute even whenever they get a start". And as much as Vinnie is critical to the team as a leader and calming influence, his injuries mean the time has come to appoint / find another leader, preferably an outfield player.

When the dust has settled, anger has subsided, the cat is allowed back in the house, and calmness eventually returns common sense will resurface and we'll start focusing on the core of players that Pep will build his team around.

I think Sunday is now a huge test of the players, and if we get a performance and cement our place in the top four then just maybe people will calm down. Tempers are running high and criticism of players in some parts is correct (some of the language isnt good though) but the manager who has delivered 3 trophies in 3 seasons will take abuse for the remainder of this season.
