Rebranded from Hermes to lose the shit reputation, and now have a worse one.

Unfortunately we use them at work, and the uselessness is completely systemic.

I ordered a mattress from work, and Evri lost it.

A king sized mattress. Lost it.

Complain mate. I wouldn't take that lying down.

It speaks volumes when a company voluntarily change their name because the previous one is so synonymous with providing a shit service.

Mind you, I had a recent dealing with Yodel and they’ll give them a good run for their money in the shit delivery firm stakes.

It's a horrible stressful job not helped in part by people who leave no instructions for their delivery when out. The criticisms I've read are a bit over the top, they are doing their best for not a lot of money.
Like most things in life it's about the money and people want the best possible service for next to nothing. Would you be prepared to pay for Royal Mail signed for delivery which costs considerably more?

It's a horrible stressful job not helped in part by people who leave no instructions for their delivery when out. Like most things in life it's about the money and people want the best possible service for next to nothing. Would you be prepared to pay for Royal Mail signed for delivery which costs considerably more?

20 years ago, I started a job in this industry (I was office based), and as part of my week's induction, I went out for a day with the depot's star driver, in a 7.5 tonner. Posters on here dont realise the stress that these drivers are under. 80 plus drops a day (at least 40 of these were time critical pre 9am, 1030am, noon), then collections and a definite hour's break for tachograph purposes. These were heavy boxes, too, going to the 9th floor, at the far end of corridors, and signatures were needed. Not just a case of "dropping off at reception "
Hardly any jiffy bags, small parcels envelopes, and you had to deal with some right wankers.
Bear in mind, there was a lot less traffic 20 years ago, and the guy's catchment area was huge.

Some people need to get of their loathsome spotty behinds, and actually get stuff for themselves . Having mundane items delivered to your door when you're able bodied and have a car, is quite pathetic. Go to the place in question, buy your goods in person,....and go to the shop next door and buy something from him, too. It keeps HIS business ticking over , and the general economy.


Covid/lockdown hs turned us onto lazy bastards. Don't get me started on people who have "food" delivered by Just
Eat/Deliveroo....

Maybe it would be an idea to ask a customer who they would want their goods delivered by or at least for the seller to be upfront in who they use so that the customer can make a choice?

Jobs at the bottom of the food chain aren’t, by nature, a bed of roses but are often a stepping stone for unskilled people new to the country, ex-offenders and others. Some would be unable to get employment otherwise.

If you accept a job then you do it while you’re there and you take reasonable care of your customers.

As for going out in the car for everything, I guess you’ve never heard of carbon reduction in your little world.

There are shit policemen, nurses, teachers, solicitors, bin men etc. There are great ones, too.

Things get nicked in the depot, too. Evening van loaders aren't the best paid, so they steal to order. Plenty of times, items were loaded onto vans and then dissappeaed. Likewise, cardboard boxes with named brand clothing inside had holes punched into them, and items there in, vanished.

I don't especially blame all drivers, like anything else there are good and bad. The two videos posted earlier are a disgrace though and the drivers should be named and shamed.
I said earlier EVRI might be cheap but they're not very good at all. I have paid more for signed delivery and would do so again. I also will never knowingly buy anything for delivery if I know the courier is EVRI.

Evri aren't very good because they are too cheap. The drivers are run ragged, pence per delivery, work out of your own car or van that needs to be fueled and maintained, I'm amazed that anyone bothers to do it. Pay a fair amount for your delivery and you will get a better outcome.

I've just read that Amazon are gonna use drones up in Darlington Having watched the video of an Amazon drone delivery where the box was dropped from about ten or twelve feet and delivered on a nice sunny day I'm rather intrigued how they'd manage in the foothills of the Pennines.

I think retailers should inform their customers who is gonna deliver the item and when we find it's a bunch of cowboys we can look elsewhere.
