Excited when they signed but turned out to be rubbish

I feel like we were one of the clubs who got taken in by the early tactics of the new style agent. Felt like the entire world were chasing our targets round about then, and then when we signed them they were dogwank.

I remember the same thing around Tiatto. The lad was been looked at by loads of big clubs including some of the big Italian ones and then he ended up signing for us in Division 2. Was odd now that I think about it.
 
Jovetic. Had so much hype behind him, didn’t turn out to be all that. Injuries didn’t help to be fair and he looked like a serious player on a couple of occasions

Danny tiatto was pretty good I thought
 
McManaman, especially after the first game where he was everywhere, pointing at everything, and won us a penalty, if I recall correctly.
 
Robert Taylor. Looked superb upfront for Gillingham with Carl Asaba.
Thought he'd be much better than he was.

Didn't really take us for anything. Was treated like shite by Mancini.

Saw an interview with him on a golf course and all he wanted to do was play.
 
In all honesty from the 90's till our current owners took over we signed has beens topping up their pensions with us or unheard of hopefulls who were mostly useless ! The truth is with out proper money to invest this is what happens at most clubs !

So did I. Going back there was unproven rumours that when Peter Reid was the gaffer we signed a lot of those unheard of Scandinavian players as Reid was getting a cut from the deals ! Rumour was Swales found out and led to him being sacked ! More like Swales wanted his cut as well ! Never trust a scouser and think I probably trusted Swales even less !

He wasn't good enough to play though.Not Mancini's fault.
I thought at the time he would have been a great signing and then I saw him play.
Nobody would buy him so he went on loan until his contract ran out.Fair enough.
