Exclusive Bluemoon interview with Paul Lake

Thanks to Paul for taking the time and trouble to answer these questions. I really enjoyed reading his comments.

Thanks Paul, that`s a really candid and open hearted Q & A session mate, I`m sure the fans are very appreciative of that so thank you and thank you for answering me specific question lol, if I see you in Sainsbury in Hazel Grove again I`ll give you a few tips.

With regards the knee, I hope things start to pick up mate, I first did mine 25 years ago when ACL replacements etc were at best in their infancy and only an option for Professional Sportsmen, I had it fixed 5 years ago and it`s beens brilliant since, never thought I`d be able to walk and twist again without getting that `ripping a chicken leg off a carcass` feeling(one I`m sure you can relate to), so, chin up buddy, stay positive and all the best to you and yours for the future.

Harry.

Every time I hear or read an interview with Paul Lake he goes even higher in my estimation. What a top guy he is.

Unfortunately I was too young to see him in action and was only getting really into football during his unsuccessful attempts to come back from injury. From the clips I've seen of him on old videos it certainly looks like he could play and knowing just how highly rated he is amongst Blues older than me, (including my Dad) who say he could well have gone on to Captain England. When you consider Lake was living his childhood dream and had it cruelly snatched away from him by injury he could easily be bitter or resentful, instead he's the biggest City fan you could meet and just wants the best for the club.

Even though I never saw Lake play, he does play a part in one of my favourite footballing memories. When I was about 10 I was down at Platt Lane watching training with my old man, on a side pitch Lake and Tony Coton (also recovering from a bad knee injury) were doing some light kick about stuff so I left my Dad watching the Main Squad and went over to have a look. After standing there a few minutes one of them knocked a stray pass into the Groundsman's garage, under a tractor type lawn mower. I hooked my leg under it and got the ball out and gave it back to them, so they started including me in their knockabout game, I'll never forget the look on my old man's face when he came over and saw me joining in with Lake and Coton! It shows what a great guy Lake (and Coton) is that he'd have the time to have a kick about with a little kid. I've met him several times since and he's always been happy to talk football and just a nice guy. I read he's setting up his own physio business and wish him every success, if anyone deserves it it's Paul Lake.

Thanks to both Ric and Paul for a fascinating read. Lakey comes across as a top fella, and obviously blue to the core. Just the sort of fella that could do an ambassadorial role for the club!! Are you reading Garry?

He's an inspiration is Lakey , such a positve attitude. Best of luck with the surgery Paul and I hope you recover ok
