Exeter City (H) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

This just popped up on my YouTube feed:

I have just spent a really enjoyable 20 minutes watching it, quite poignant given the victory today, I don’t mind admitting to being a bit emotional.

That was a league match wasn't it? I seem to remember we drew them in the cup a few weeks later and needed a couple of replays to get through.
Correct, we had 2 replays.
We also lost the away league fixture 1-0.

And exactly 10 years to the day of the 10-1, Nov 7th 1997, we played Huddersfield in the league at Maine Road again… we lost 1-0 this time.

Seem to remember them playing "Blue Monday" on the Monday's Granada Reports' montage of the goals. Brilliant !!
A magic moment when City didn't get many.
Didn't Huddersfield play in Yellow & Black check shirts (like the Wilson's Brewery logo) ?
Not sure about that, I had an audio montage on a cassette tape with Duran Duran's New Moon on Monday (is that the right title?) backing the commentary from that match. Not sure where it came from.

Spot on about the Huddersfield kit.

Love that! Team selection was spot on shame Erling didn’t score
The Academy keeps producing these prospects and every one today were an absolute credit I think at one point there were 7 on the pitch special mention to Ryan McAidoo and Stephen Mfuni only 17, hope they continue their development What a lovely moment when Ryan scored he went to the corner to see his parents? for a hug for them both Credit to the ref who could have booked him
Great to see that they never stopped going for more goals and pressing to the end

Actually think that was a better match although I only saw the TV highlights. Best thing about that was at half time the commentary team said "They couldn't get double figures could they?". Although it was recorded so they might have put that in after knowing the result.
Yep, I remember that comment!

Funny thing is I remember when the final scores came on TV after the Huddersfield match, I was in the works canteen and everybody was taking the piss, thought is was a misprint and should have read 1-1 or 0-1 until the announcer got to our match, read out the score, then said "I'll just repeat that...."

Nobody was taking the piss after that.
Great story!

From today’s young Man City team, I saw more effort, desire, and passion than from many of the senior players who have featured this season. The youngsters played fast, brave, and entertaining football with real team spirit. Some senior players continue to slow the game down. Bernardo and Doku again showing too much individual play and not enough collective football.
There's always one...

Has Mark Ogden written his how disrespectful of City article like he did when we beat Burton Albion 9-0. He actually said we should have stopped scoring at 6-0

The bad news today is that Algeria are 2 nil down and RAN will be on his way home

Disrespectful bastards. Pep out. A disgrace to show such little respect.

Liked the desire to keep going, fueled by the kids eager to impress. As I said pre-match, we really didnt need to go that strong, our entire eds team would have won convincingly too but enjoyable to see us score 10 nevertheless. Hopefully no injuries and some good confidence ahead of a tough and busy schedule.
True, but easy to say with hindsight. You never know with these matches, Macc are 3 divisions lower (and around the same position in their league) but still put Palace out.

Didn't see the game but sounds like
Mcaidoo alleyne khus and Semenyo all showed promise which is encouraging.

Is their anywhere to get extended highlights or is it 5 mins on MOTD

That's harsh, hes hardly had much time to really settle in

Don't think hes the answer per se, but certainly good to have as an option especially at home
Agreed. He started off very well but it's extremely difficult without match time, a lot of players struggle for a while when they don't play regularly.
