It's Friday night, Collingwood vs Carlton is about to start. Open a beer and relax, Pom.

I'll be back with some popcorn later to see how this thread is going ;)

C'ARN the Blues.
There's one thing that the UK does have over Oz; no fucking ariel ping pong.

They still have that egg chasing shite that you lot in NSW and the banana benders love, though.

Couldn't live In Australia as too many beautiful places in Europe to see. Manchester is not perfect but it's close to the lakes, wales, has good football and you can be in so many amazing places in 3 hours.

God I miss the UK. Would be back in a heartbeat if I could. I listen to so many tourists slagging the UK off and how they would love to live here. Grass is always greener.

Nowt wrong with thugby league,it was a relief to move to Sydney from Perth and see a competition worth following.

This country is a shit hole, full of shit the place is a joke. I agree when expats slag us off. I grew up loving Great Britain, now as you get older you understand that its a joke.

Not really. When you get older in life you start thinking about how things were better when you were younger. This has happened to every single generation of society since before the Ancient Greeks and isn't anything more than rose tinted glasses and selective memory leading to confirmation bias.

.

That said, pop music just WAS better in the 80s.

My favourites are the types who claim they've left Britain "because of all the immigrants"; this was one I heard recently from someone who had moved to Barbados. I asked, "Well, what are you then?!".

Funny how when people come to this country, they're immigrants, but when Brits move abroad to work, they're 'ex-pats'.

My missus says there's too many immigrants coming into The UK, I remind her she is an immigrant, and that I was an immigrant when I lived in her country

It's all about perception really, and your perception creates your reality

Two blokes doing more or less the same job, with the same income and standard of living, one could be very unhappy with his lot, whilst the other could be blissfully happy and grateful for what he has got, the circumstances are the same but their perception creates the reality.

If you look for the bad you will find it wherever you are

Every country is founded on immigration, and every survey ever conducted shows that financially immigration is a net contributor to the UK economy.
So that's UKIP's one policy bubble burst.
I have read ex-UK ex-pats on here bemoaning immigrants coming into Australia, but I don't think they do irony.
Unless they mean 'those other immigrants who aren't me'.

The expats that annoy me (being one myself) are the ones that seem to think that because you've chosen to live in another country, you can't possibly say anything bad about it. Basically, "if you don't like it, why don't you go home?" No doubt the same people would call you a racist if you said the same thing to a foreigner in your own country. Every country has its bad points and certain things that are just stupid or badly organised. I reserve the right to moan about them whatever country I'm in. It doesn't mean I hate the country or I want to leave.

I find my opinion of the UK depends largely on the weather.
