Expectations - 2021/22

Three trophies again. Chelsea will be more of a challenge but if we get Kane I think we will win the league, CL and one other

With Kane:
Retain the league
CL semi minimum
FA Cup SF minimum

without kane:
Title challenge
CL semi minimum
FA cup Sf minimum

I’m expecting a bit of a tactical evolution if we get Kane. Maybe some form of evolution if Grealish plays as an 8 too

beyond that I hope for another title push and some cup success

I'm actually a bit worried about the coming season, that worry will be alleviated if we sign Kane (in my dreams Haaland).
I'm not sure Grealish actually improves our starting 11 but I'm looking forward to see what he brings to the team, hundred million is a big price tag to live up to.
Concerned about Foden and KDB injuries, ankle ligaments and facial injuries are worse than we're being told and he'll miss a large part of the season.
Hope Laporte stays and we can get a decent start to the season despite so many of our players coming back late and having to play all our rivals away from home at start of season. Hope we don't have a season of our players getting pinged and missing big matches due to covid. Can't wait to get back in stadium but dreading the queues and all the faff with Covid apps. Come on City

Expecting top four challenge / back to back titles need luck
Good cup runs
Dampened atmosphere /obnoxious away fans
Onset of tinnitus due to speakers booming out unnecessary guff
Tetchy fans at entrances due to teething problems for first few games
50/50 chance of car getting broken in to at some stage of the season

Anything less than top 2 in the league and a domestic cup final is probably a massive underachievement. It's impossible to win the league every year, and always difficult to win it back to back no matter what people say, so that would be some achievement.

I will never, ever get bored of seeing City win trophies, and having been out of the ground for however long it has been it would be lovely to see them lift something again, even if it is "just" a league cup.

Very excited to see Dias, Grealish and other lads I've not seen play play in person. Dias in particular because there's only so much you see on telly.

CL semi finals would be nice, but once you get to that part it becomes trickier to manage. We have nothing to fear in that tournament now, so fingers crossed.

85 - 90 points is a quality season, if another team beat that so be it

The cups are a lottery but we’ve as good a chance as anyone - my preference is for a history making 5th League Cup on the bounce over the more prestigious FA Cup and CL.

The debut of rail seating to somehow give the atmosphere the kick start it needs

If Kane signs I cannot see anyone bothering us in the league.

I expect Foden to get even better and take on a "scruff of the neck" role in big games.

I expect Grealish to become a cult favourite a la Zabaleta and to fit the team like a glove.

I expect Mendy to get injured within 10 minutes of getting out of bed in the first week of the season and spend 80% of the season unavailable.

I'd like to go the whole season without losing a single game; actually I'd like to win every.single.game.
One year someone will. Not in my lifetime?

As long as we put up a fight and finish there or thereabouts I'll be happy.

Top 4 finish.
CL semis.
FA Cup semis.
League Cup final.

I had similar expectations last year as I believed we were in transition, so I still think we performed beyond my hopes, thankfully. I thought Chelsea had built a solid squad 12 months ago but it only clicked from about March onwards, but I would be shocked if they weren't hugely better for 21/22 as I expect Liverpool, Reds and even Leicester to be. We have lost Aguero, who rarely played last year, and gained Grealish and we will buy one or two before 31.8.21, possibly not the ones people expect, as we don't usually opt for a short term solution to medium term problems. I expect a very competitive PL, plenty of shock results in the opening 6 to 8 weeks. There are so many unknowns but I would also be reasonably satisfied (not happy) with your expectations. What would keep me happy would be high quality football from our team, wherever that takes us.

Oh really?
Yep !. There is always some normally mid table team gets off to a flier, squads aren't finalised yet, some players just starting training and this year there will be Real, Barca, various Italian and PSG fire sales added to the last minute wheeling and dealing, maybe some contracts cancelled post 31st to add to the mix.

Think we will need to chase the pack down again as the pre season has once again been non existent. The teams are too good for even players of our quality to just rock up on a Monday and defeat with little training. Probably a rough start with hopefully another really strong middle where we push top. More scared of Liverpool rediscovering form than Chelsea at the moment but we may be helped if a lower point total is all it takes as I truly believe we will drop points early

Injuries, late returns, and a hell of a list of opening fixedures makes this tough. Chasing down the pack this year will be harder than last and we are more in transition (I think integrating Grealish and Kane will not be easy and will mean a change in tactics).
Top 4 this season and a bunch of coconuts will do ....
