Explosion at MEN Arena/Victoria Station

Getting a little bit pissed off with the coverage now - out today and LBC, TalkRadio, 5Live all of them have been trying to out-grief each other see who can get the most eyewitnesses on - wall to wall heart wrenching stories that in reality is just grief porn making hay at the expense of these sad, sad events. Why not do some actual journalistic reporting eh people?

It's a really hard line to walk for the news outlets.

On one hand, no one wants "grief porn" as you put it, but on the other, it's the major news story, it's dominating the thoughts of everyone in the country and it's a still developing story which demands coverage.

What do I do? I've got tickets to a gig at the Albert hall tonight and have been looking forward to it for months. If it was just me there would be absolutely no question that I would go especially now because I hate the idea of these wankers stopping people from living their lives as they wish. The problem is that I'm going with my girlfriend and, although today is probably one of the safest times due to the police presence and security checks, I won't ever be able to forgive myself if something does happen.

My wife came downstairs this morning and I told her about this attack. She's a primary teacher.

'Islamic terrorism?' She asked

'Looks like it'

'Who was playing?'

'Ariana Grande'

'I'm sorry, but I'm not surprised at all'.

Sounds cold, but it isn't.

Two very serious issues arise from this appalling incident in my home city. Firstly, that there are people living nearby willing to mass murder our children in such a way. The second is exactly why they picked Monday and not later in the week when Take That were due to play, which would also have been a sell out crowd.

Sorry if this offends anyone, that isn't the intention at all. But nobody anywhere seems to be asking this question.

Not sure what point you are trying to make here?

You may not have any choice, I'd be surprised if it went ahead mate. There is a vigil tonight at 6pm I believe too.

I think that the point has been made on here and in media coverage that the nature of the concert goers was well and truly in the bastards thinking.

You know, most people won't realise but I've seen at least 2-3 reports of armed police stopping cars or similar in Manchester over the last couple years. As you'd expect it kinda gets swept over and isn't really reported properly as there wouldn't really be reason to.

I think the security services are dealing with these matters in our region more than we realise. There's a video from last night of armed police cornering that car in (that has been shown on the news at the junction with a dog sniffing it) and shouting at the guy inside.

Im presuming they picked the Ariana Grande gig as she is one of the most popular female pop artists in the world at the moment. It had the most impact around the world.

Im not sure what you're getting at? Whats so special about the day being Monday?
