Tragic, hope it remains calm there.

Agreed, and disturbing to read of (as are all the other killings in that land).
My memories of spending some time in Jerusalem are amongst my very best, and the warmth and friendliness of both the Arabic and Jewish folk I met there will always stay with me.

I’ve said it many times, but the day that humans stop believing in and following religions will be the greatest day in human history.

It will happen one day, maybe a few hundred years from now, but it will happen and will be brilliant for our species.

For that to happen someone will have to find out and tell us all what does (and doesn’t) happen to your soul when you die first.

I’ve no idea whether they exist “there”, but as long as we don’t know one way or the other, religions will continue imho, that was my only point really.

Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot et al had no religion. Maybe if they did....

They had extremist political ideals, which is the same as religion. Communism and Fascism are exactly like strict religions/cults, only the state is the church and the figurehead is the living prophet.

I’ve said for years that political ideologies don’t work in the modern world and we need to find a new way of running our countries. All our governments should be coalitions of those who win their constituencies and we need to ditch the political parties.

Same as religion, we need to ditch them and lead humanist/futurist lives.

"there" meaning in your comment, not any geographical location.

There are many, arguably most, things we don't know one way or the other. Russell's teapot springs to mind.
