Exposing the hypocrisy of journalists

City fans: Are you going to allow your own to be picked off like this?

We are not likkle City anymore. Bashed up Bert has risen from the football gutter to be Champions of the Premier League. There will be over 50,000 at the game today, and millions more will follow the game around the world from every corner.

It really is time that we started to act as one. The battle is at its heart commercial. Manchester City are rivals of Manchester Utd and Liverpool, and the press know there is an audience hungry for City smear.

Their life-blood is revenue, so do not give them anything.
  • Do not buy newspapers critical of Manchester City. Safest to just not buy any of them full stop.

  • Do not contribute to digital sites like Guardian Football. They take over 50% of their income online. You are contributing to their growth if you comment online. There's no point standing your City corner, all you do is give the site legitimacy, and attract Liverpool and Man Utd supporters.
Absolutely do no set out to intimidate anyone online or in person. Use this forum and the internet to exchange ideas, and behave as one. There are many decent journalists out there. It is the corrosive, anti-City smear that we wish to stop.

If City fans do this en masse, we will start to hurt them commercially, and they will feel the consequences of their actions. I expect it will carry on regardless, but at least you will have the satisfaction of no longer sustaining their activity.

I have been advocating this for a long, long time.

As for the city Rabin fella, I think it’s possible he’s a cunning PR person or he could be a pissed off fan with time on his hands. I don’t care & what’s bazaar is the journalists that are paid for their opinions complaining about someone having opinions being paid. They pretend to be impartial, informed & concerned when quite clearly they aren’t. I’ve enjoyed the banter & the fact he’s shut them up ‘ exposed their hypocrisy.

Thats what I do I block them on twitter and don't interact with them anymore! Its waste of time and gets them there targets of social media clicks that earns them money.

His family is now being targeted by them. See the tweets above. I don't think we should waste time going after individual journalists online. If they tweet something or make a point, then we can respond by all means but the personal stuff should be avoided.

It would be more effective if City fans in their hundreds and thousands changed their own individual behaviour so that we don't buy papers, or contribute to their online articles.

Individuals sniping journalists who have Fleet Street newspapers behind them who can reach millions is like refugee children throwing stones at soldiers armed with live ammo and jet fighters.

Our strength is numbers. Do not give them any more of your money or comments. That will be a start, and quite an effective one. They are employed after all to make waves and generate revenue for their owners. Well simply kill the waves, and stop giving them your revenue by changing your activity.

Post-match 100s of City fans would normally comment in national newspapers. Stop. if you must comment, do it on Bluemoon, other City forums, Villatalk, fan sites, the BBC, anywhere but national media owned football sites.

The objective is to win the propaganda war and to hurt them financially.

I agree with this 100 per cent. We have a large enough fanbase to have an impact with a commercial boycott. The Guardian has totally politicised its coverage of City for example and has no interest in treating our club fairly. We have been victims of a smear campaign in some tabloids and this has been confirmed by the club who know all those involved. Being passive is not the right way to hit back against an aggressive PR campaign fuelled by false (sometimes racist) narratives

5Live presenter just compared the All Blacks playing England to Liverpool playing City. Meaning it is the top fixture. I don't think they will last long!
There are quite a few decent journalists and independent people out there who are just not interested in City or taking sides against us. However, the editorial line is clear. We've known about it for years, and it has got worse. So now we are going to react together.

If you are thinking this is pointless and a drop in the ocean, that is only true whilst we all do our own thing. They are weak. That is why some kick and scream.

They are under pressure. Look at their sales. Maybe we can have some effect on their bottom-line, and credibility.

It would be even better if we could make our own media better. You may hate Arsenal Fan TV, but do you know they have 1 m subscribers? That's just an example of what is possible (if you're smart and good in front of a camera there's a lot of money to be made if your good, and a lot of time to be wasted if you're bad).

The world is changing with smartphones, and the internet. Our foes are going down in their existing form but we have to be careful that they don't take control of the new technological landscape.
